With my standard 1.8 K series it was the ringland metal between the 1st & 2nd rings that broke away in two of my pistons as in this detailed K series pistons link which I think is their greatest area of weakness ;

K pistons

I understand that one of the main differences between all 143VVC and lesser K series engines and the 160VVC engines is that the ringland gap between the 1st & 2nd rings is greater meaning the 160VVC pistons can survive higher power outputs and revs before they fail.

Is there a spec of the Mahle pistons anywhere to possibly compare these pistons to the standard ones in the ringland area?
