MG Owners in South Africa

Hey all,

I am one of them...if you are an MG owner in sunny SA...drop a line and say hi here!!

I drive a Red 2004 MG ZR 120 (3 Door). I am in the Joburg region, and my car has some mods done by MG South Africa (when they were still around). Before me, the car belonged to a manager at MG South Africa, and the mods were done then. Unfortunately Im not sure what the mods are...but the car is helluva responsive! Look forward to meeting you on the road...

Cheers for now!

Hello, Nice to know I am not alone here in SA.. I have a Black ZR160.. standard beside the tinted windows.. I have loads of problems getting info regarding silly things like exhausts..I can take my car to the Hyndi dealership here in Durbs who are suppose to be the agents..but have had nothing but hassles and irritation from them, my car is now out of warrenty (thank the gods!!) and I can take it to whom ever I please to service, but again where? LOL

Hi my name is Russ Ingram I'm an oil on canvas artist(portraits usually),recently a friend of mine asked me if i could paint his recently restored MG.
He was delighted with the finished piece(attatched pic) and suggested that i should contact your club and ask if any of your members would like there MG painted on to canvas,i'm a portrait artist so if they would like themselves painted in the car that would not be a problem(see attatched pic of prince charles painted from a photo).
The cost would be £150 once you take delivery(free) of your painting.
All i need are good clear photos of the car etc which you can email to me and a delivery address once the painting is complete i require no money up front.
If anyone is interested please contact me.

Thanks for your time

Kind regards

Russ Ingram

Another on from the Gangster's Paradise (Gauteng for those who do not know) with a 2004 TF235 Turbo

tAgC is also from Gauteng, with a 2004 TF160, and then there is TF160SA, also from Gauteng.

So that will be eight then...

It looks like you've been breeding the sudden increase in numbers

You are getting to have more than we have in Belgium

Another MG ZT160 driver from Gauteng\Pretoria

Have a few mods, removed Cat, upgraded Dumpvalve with Forge one.
Wheels been replace by Scirocco wheels mine is poweder coated black though.
Replaced the badges with custom ones and next up is UniQ+ Chip and then conversion to Limo when paid off, wont get much for trade so would rather make it awesome.

Hi Pren. Welcome to the forum. Remapping is a bit of a issue because guys here are unfamiliar with MG's so they are hesitant to work on them. That is why I decided on Dastek's Unichip. They were willing to do tuning for a reasonable price.

Dimsport will also happily do a remap for you. But they are somewhat more expensive.

Hope this helps

I guess it depends on how much more power you are looking for. A boost controller to increase boost levels slightly will help - the ECU's standard map will adapt and keep up within limits. I just upgraded the fuel pump on my TF Turbo with a Walbro 255 ("how-to" will follow) and can see difference in AFR. Also not sure how close the ZT's injectors are to maximum capacity, so might need to stick some Green Giants in there (440 cc/min). Thereafter, the ECU will keep up as long as your boost does not exceed the maximum per the map.

Having said all this, this is only really aimed at doing it yourself in the absence of reputable tuner who understands the MG, and even if you find a good one, you might need to get all these bits (except for maybe the boost controller) regardless.
