Hi Guys,

I've just taken delivery of my lovely new ZS 180 :D and want to change the front door speakers for some components (probably infinity's). Does this car have 6" or 6 1/2" mids ?

Also, does anyone have any experience with changing the tweeters?

Any advice greatly recieved !

ps There's not a lot of room behing the h/u is there?...... I'll have to find somewhere else to hide the car kit box of tricks ! :cus:

Welcome to the forum. Nice choice of motor.

I am sure some ZS owners wil be in touch to give detailed advice but to get you going I suggest you do a search on the ICE Forum - try 'ZS speakers', for example - and you will find one or two very relevant threads and links with images. Start from the forum front page where you will find the 'Search this Forum' entry link.

They're 6" but a few people (including myself) have made up adaptor rings and put in 6.5" speakers as the existing speaker is moulded to the fitment ring. See this thread (http://forums.mg-rover.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=6779) for details of how spacemanstu did it.

I've lost count of the people who've asked about changing the front door speakers!

As the others have mentioned, there are a lot of posts already with some really good advice on changing the front speakers. I've written a few myself!

I've also posted a template for the front speakers in .pdf format

here (http://forums.mg-rover.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=6779)

I've just fitted a set of infinity components to my ZS over the weekend. To be honest i had a bit of a nightmare! I couldn't find anywhere to locate the crossover. I'd normally hide it behind the door card or in the door itself, but there's no room in the inn :cus:

To cut a long story short i ended up changing the mids for the infinity's and left the standard tweeters (with their built in frequency cap) well alone. It's not the ideal solution but it's better than nothing

SNAP! I put a set of Genesis A17's in the front, and they've got great looking crossover units, but there is no easy place to mount them. I started forming up a door pod with a cutout for the crossovers, but the result wasn't what I was aiming for and in the meantime I hacked together a mounting from MDF and hope to return to the door pod another day. I'm running the A17s with the standard tweeters at the moment.
