: Anyone For A Gay Website? What Next?
TopGayer, the recently-launched gay motoring website, has been made the media partner for GayCar, a new leasing company designed to provide cars to gay people.... Meanwhile in the US, Ford Motor Company has said it will reduce its Jaguar and Land Rover advertising spend in gay-orientated media, after the conservative American Family Association had threatened a boycott of the company for its "track record for supporting the homosexual agenda" this autumn. Ford, which said it was not altering its ad budget attribution for fellow PAG brand Volvo, said the change of policy reflected budget streamlining rather than a response to the American Family Association’s threat. (Quoted from Autoindustry).
I thought this sort of thing is so none PC. And as to why it is OK for Ovlov to advertise and LR/Jag not is inconsistent. Mind you, LR was always a bit too rugged a product.
how gay oriented are car adverts? they dont seem it to me.. they cater more towards the hetrosexual end of car buying if anything
red_rover 07-12-2005, 21:50 Why on earth would you want to rent a car from a gay only rent firm? :s
All sounds a bit stupid to me!
does this mean no-one will like my range of one legged lesbian paraplegic sandwiches? :_poke:
red_rover 07-12-2005, 22:16 Liam - I totally agree with you. Its just seperating us all, it drives me insane! I would rather take my business else where on moral grounds.
StreetBoy 07-12-2005, 22:40 original gay website- www.jeep.com (http://www.jeep.com) ;)
Peterover 07-12-2005, 23:00 If that is the case can I have a straight-only school/bar/car magazine/car dealer/fast food resteraunt, etc?
We already do.. ok not exclusively heterosexual. but only just gay tolerant if at all.
"Do I sound like a bigot now?"
No, but consider standing in anothers shoes.. not necessarily gay, female, disabled or muslim would do.. and see society and history from their perspective. Look at the simularities and differences in your own social/peer group..
"Personally, I don't think gays are any different to any other living thing. Their existence neither interests nor bothers me, "
There are more important things in life certainly, and yes gays get one stab at life, feel pain and happiness like any human..
"but like with this multi-culturalism thing, why are we having it shoved in our faces and rammed down our throuts until it does bother us? Why can't they just get on with things? "
I think gays do.. but it has taken campaigning and education to do so.. I am proud to be part of a pretty tolerant society. After all more is achieved working together than against each other
" IIRC 90% of gay men are not the flamboyant queens you see prancing around on reality TV shows, so what makes their tastes in cars any different to a straight man?"
Exactly!! just as 90% of straight men aren't the womanising, filthy, violent, promiscuous. disease ridden, thuggish, slobs you see louting about on Jerry Springer.
Most couldn't give two hoots about how feminine or gay their car is..
" I can feel that I am treading on a pontentially explosive minefield of discussion with size 12 boots here so I will end it there. I don't wish to offend anyone..."
No worries, it gave me summat to write about
This may be an unfair stereotype, but I predict their "Car of the Year" award will go to the Mazda Miata for the next ten years or however long it remains in production. The Volkswagen New Beetle and Honda Insight will slug it out for second place. Place bets now.
What's next?? Gay only car insurance?? Cheaper rates for 'batting for the other side'??
How would they gay car rental or any other 'gay' service actually prove the gayness of it's members?? Ridiculous.
Well we already have women only car insurance, so why not! Let's have 'small people' car insurance, and 'overweight people' car insurance while we're at it too....the world is going totally pc and it makes me annoyed!
Peterover 08-12-2005, 14:14 Why not?? why would it bother you... unless you are part of a high risk group.. i.e. young male driving a modified car.. There are already gay friendly insurance, finance and holiday companies.. and i wouldn't be suprised if there aren't women friendly ones too... seems the after having their own way for the last couple of thousand years the days of heterosexual white male domination are finally coming to an end and the tables are being turned.. lol.. hurrah.!! lol
Rapid Silver 08-12-2005, 14:29 Well we already have women only car insurance, so why not! Let's have 'small people' car insurance, and 'overweight people' car insurance while we're at it too....the world is going totally pc and it makes me annoyed!
But that would confuse me Gra! You see, I'm small (i.e. short) AND overweight!
Do I get a double discount then?:D
Silly idea having Gay only insurance. Would there be some sort if test for "gayness" before you were allowed to take out a policy?
STEVEN_NORFIELD 08-12-2005, 14:42 Why on earth would you want to rent a car from a gay only rent firm? :s
They could call it "rent boys" with a subheading of "paid for by the hour"
Gay only car insurance? Gay Motoring? WTF?!
Is 'normal' motoring too macho or something? 'Cos i dont seem to find it. I bet TopGayer will all be about camp city cabrios LOL.
****ing Political Correctness at it again. I find it a wee bit offenive and patronising that they are setting up Gay Motoring, when gay guys have been getting insurance etc jut like your average white str8 man for yanks.
chrismm27 08-12-2005, 20:52 There are plenty of gay websites that interest me, but topgayer isnt one of them! ;)
