: ZT 260 - Reliable?

I should be collecting a ZT 260 on Saturday, and trading in my 190+. The 190 has been a superb car with very little to speak about needing repairing. I have heard the 260 is a bit more tempramental and am just wondering what the general consensus of opinion is on them.

From a usage point of view i do approx 14 miles per day to and from work (all country lanes) and the occasional site visit (average 100 miles each way - motoway stuff), say 1 or 2 times a week.

Other than increased fuel usage & excessive tyre wear (both of which i put up with already on the 190), am i going to be in trouble?

Other than the above i am really looking forward to collecting the car, i have been very happy with the 190 and wanted more of the same (with the emphasis on the word 'more').

The 260 is in BRG, has satnav, zenons, driver's intelligence pack, rear sensors, speaker upgrade (i think, has an extra bulkhead slung under the rear parcel shelf which i take to be for speakers). Is also VIN 27 and was previously owned as a long term development vehicle by MGR.

Lastly, does anyone knwo where i can get hold of the X-Power exhausts for the 260? I have heard them fitted to a ZT V8 one and love the noise!

Good choice!

It's no less reliable than any other car. What's the mileage? I'm assuming it's done a fair few miles, the engine will be just nicely run in. ;)

My daily drive in the car is 15 miles of back roads, followed by 20 miles of motorway and I average 22-24mpg, so it's not that bad!

A major bug-bear is the climate control as this is specific to the 260, and as I found out last month some of the parts are on permanent back-order. Check it works properly. It's also advisable to get the diff oil changed if it hasn't been.

The plastic bit in the boot is the Harmon Kardon sub. IMHO utterly pointless! but you've got the V8 to listen to instead ;)

X-Power exhausts try here - http://forums.xpowerforums.com/showthread.php?t=28833

Cheers Justin, thanks for the advice :)

Am buying the car from Brown & Gammons and it'll be fully serviced before i collect it (i'll ask about the diff oil).

The car has 79K on it (ouch!) and the accompanying stone chips on the nose, but other than this (and the missing pony badge on the engine :( ), is in very good nick. I may get the seats retrimmed in the future (i like the alcantara i have in the 190), but short term my only plans are:

Fit my phone holder and L/H/D cup holder from the 190
Fit my aftermarket MG branded mudflaps (£11.06p for all 4! MGOC)
Switch the rear tyres for 245x40s and keep the 215x45s for front spares

X-Power 'zorst is also a definite, but will be down to £££s (just bought a car don't cha know!) :D

Nice one, I've got 'em on mine, they sound awesome. The missus isn't too impressed, mind ;)
