: Coupe Alarm Problem

Currently, the alarm activates when the boot is opened using the key. Pooles Rover have done a health check (£60) on the alarm which indicated that the boot lock (replacement cost £80) was causing the problem. However, a continuity check on the lock indicates no key - no circuit, key turned - circuit. Logically, this is what I would expect. Could there be another problem causng the fault? I've been waiting 12 weeks so far for a matching lock with Rover Parts unable to give any availability details. I just have that nagging doubt that it's nothing to do with the lock. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Hmmm, not sure to be honest, Steve

The Alarm ECU needs to see the boot has been opened by the key within 1.5 secs (IIRC!)

There is some sort of key barrel switch which senses this action (all within 1.5 secs)

I'll see if I can dig out the info.

Otherwise, seeing as though you've spent enough on it already >=( either disconnect the switch altogether or short the wires across, therefore disabling the switch......I'm not 100% sure it would work, though

I'll see if I can find a description and operation somewhere :eyes
