: Rover 400 Td

hi all my rover is not well it ticks over ok but will not rev more so between 1500 and 2500 after that it's not as bad but from time to time its does get rough we've had a lot of wet weather at the min does any 1 have any idea what this could be

sounds like the map (boost) sensor to me, on the firewall, dogleg shaped black box with a single hose and wiring connector, give it a check and clean up.

hi thank could you tell me were abouts it is and do have to take it off and whats the best way to clean it and if its that how much £££££ are we talking

see above ^^ its on the firewall/baulkhead (the back of the engine bay) just left of centre as you look, its black plastic and dogsleg shaped, sorry i cant explain any better i dont have a 420 engine bay to hand but this is what it looks like

cant really clean the sensor up, just clean the wiring connector up, a replacement from a scrappy might be worth a shot if nothing helps shouldn't be more than £15

Also check the wiring from number 1 injector for chafing.

Change the fuel filter (and check the priming bulb isn't leaking air into the system).

Also check the intercooler hoses (if fitted) for splits.

just done all the filter's not so long ago when it was at 35000 its now on 41000 and all the intercooler hoses looks ok well have a look at the wiring thought
