I have a 220 td and have been having problems with it draining power from the battery.I fitted a new high capacity battery and it sucked the life out of it.What could the problem be?

Knackered alternator ?

Sounds like something is permenantly live or the alternator is draining the battery when driving as it is not recharging the battery. I don't know how to check if it charging, but i think its just a matter of a multimeter and checking the charge rate.

Do a search for alternator problems see what comes up :)

Check the wiring in the boot hinge (A VERY VERY common problem on bubble 200's).

If that doesn't help then try unplugging the alternator and see if the drain goes away. If it does then you need a new alternator.

Sounds like an earthing problem
