Hi guys ive got a rover 214 mk2 running solid disks its now time to sort the brakes out.
A couple of questions does anyone know whether the vented disks and calipers bolt on the the 214 hubs? or are the hubs on the vented cars bigger too?
Cheers
Vented discs and calipers will bolt right on no problems :D

I did the same to mine (MK2) back along - much better with the vented discs and greenstuff pads :)
Just use new parts please - brakes are vital to your (and others) safety :D

Of course mate planing to take to the track soon so need some much better braking than these solid things.
The greenstuff pads where good but run at temps too high and have warmped and cut them to shreds so new disks required anyway.
New calipers and standard disks and pads at the mo though, but should have more potentail of upgrading to performance disks and pads once the 1.8 is rebuilt ready for next year.
But your right shouldnt realy muck around with second hand brakes, you dont now way there second hand for.

If available for the 200, I can really recommend Mintex 1144s (equivilant to green stuff) or 1177s (equivilant to red stuff).
Green stuff seem to be ok for the road, but on a track they don't really cope with it. The Mintex are great pads. (albeit a little expensive).

btw, with a set of 17" alloys, the big discs & calipers from the ZR160 might fit! - Dave, this right?

If you want your discs to last I personly wouldn't go for Mintex as they can wear discs quite heavily and also hum like a tramps socks (not quiet). I have used Greenstuff on the track and have had no problems. I did use drilled & grooved discs so these may have kept them cooler. Now I am running 308mm discs with aluminium bells which do stop! Get the new V4 compound Greenstuff, they have a slightly higher temp range and also brake better especially from cold.:D

True, the rear discs apparently were quite heavily worn on my old 'F after it was sold (discs & pads (Mintex 1144s) were fitted at the same time). The 1144s did squeal a bit in traffic too, but only when they were cool. After a bit of faster driving, they're fine.

Cheers for the advise guys, although ive come accross a slight prob the carriers ive got do not bolt on to the hub. Question is know is the 214 with solid disks have a different hub? or are the carriers from 220 different from the 214?
Any ideas would be very much appriated.
Im considering whether the cost of the hubs caliper disks and pads will be worth the cost, or whether to go for some grooved possible drilled solids.
Cheers
Darren.
