Hey there

Ive got my self a Rover 418GSD Turbo, Is there any dead easy tweeks I can do to improve prformence?

I dont know a great deal about it at all, by the looks of it, The last owner has replaced the Airbox filter, with a Cone filter.

Any advice? Ideas?

You can adjust the fuel pump like you can on the non intercooled L series. PM me your email address and I'll send you my Tuning Guide pdf.

My Relay camper has the same engine and after fitting a turbo and intercooler, I adjusted the pump. It storms up hills (well for a camper it does!) and mpg has improved as well.

Get rid of the open cone as well, you will get massive heat soak for the heat of the engine.

Find the cover for the airbox and buy a performance panel filter such as ITG or similar.

I believe its actually the XUD 1.9 rather than the 1.7, so why did Rover called it a 218?

That's a Lucas pump I can see though now that I've looked more closely, not a Bosch one as on the L series.

The 218 engine was actualy 1769cc, same as the diesel engine used in the Pug 205. The 1.9 version was never used by Rover AFAIK.

Thanks for putting me right on that.

When I had my 218, the 1.7's were all Turbo's, but they also used 1.9's, non turbo.

I have just purchased a 95 M reg 418 SLD Turbo. I would like to know if I can improve the already decent performance.
