: Dr Dave : WOOD you Know?

:eyes :eyes :eyes Dave, I need your expert help!! As you know I own a Sterling 827Sli which is basically a Rover Vitesse with your top of the line Rover Sterling specification. Last week some prat backed into the drivers side passenger door OUCH! So as the car is going in to be repaired I am taking this oppurtunity to "FETTLE" it big time!!(it's probably the best if not "the" best example on the west coast) The problem I am having is that certain parts are kind of hard to get out here, namely: Trim pieces. Maybe you could help? Because of the intense heat in So.Cal the wood on the dash and the console tends to crack and peel off. My car has Brazilian rosewood inserts and I'm pretty sure that the UK cars featured this on certain models as well. Could you check to see if the wood kits are still available or if they can be obtained from a breakers yard? Worst case scenario is that I could switch to the wood from the mk2 800's as I'm sure that Wood would fit. There are other parts that I need, but for now we'll start with the arboreal necessities. Oh! if it is any help this is my VIN# SAXXS56K9LM251716 and that is from memory! How pathetic is that!!? lol I eagerly await your reply "my liege". (okay, I admit it. I'm kissing butt now!! ) Stephen:eyes :eyes :eyes

Hi Stephen!

You've been a bit quiet lately? I thought we'd lost you!

I reckon your are going to have trouble getting the wood trim (new) as it must be NLA (No Longer Available) by now..

I'll check what's available and prices on Monday. The 800 is not featured on the EPC system which I have here.

Second hand parts off a broken 800? I reckon they'll be pretty much the same as yours, aslthough you may be lucky. There are plenty in the scrappers at the moment (...the bodies rust before the mechanicals give up)

LOST ME!! FAT CHANCE! I read the posts every day but I'm not always compelled to write anything!! Silence is golden:D P.S. I read the other MG-R websites as well but I never post anything(Lurker). I'm like a literary labrador VERY LOYAL TO MY MASTERS!! This site is visually much more appealing than the others, (very good design I must say. It has very good clarity!) and look how the membership has grown in the last couple of weeks(faster than the other site by far!)But I hope they can make a go of it and don't go under because this variety is very good for MG-R.:) :) :) Stephen

Wood you let me know what you need?

I'm on pretty good terms with a local car dismantler - and can see if he has any 800's in at the moment.

John my interior is coffee beige so I'm looking for items in this colour. The wood is brazilian rosewood, it is straight grained with kind of a honey/orangey hue to it. I need various interior parts and as the weather conditions in the UK aren't comparable to the face of the sun(like here in So.Cal) they should be in excellent condition. When I get time I'll give you a list of NLA parts that I'm seaching for. I have to go now to take a shower and then go out to a mates house to see Lennox lewis hopefully pulverize that loud mouth has-been TYSON!>=( >=( >=( >=( GO LENNOX!! GO LAKERS!! GO ENGLAND!! (and IRELAND) GO D.C. and McLaren!! Stephen

Designworks? It's home to Mr. Bangle, the psychotic hairdresser i.e. the B*W design studio beside the place where Stephen takes his Sterling to get it serviced!!

Remember, the boys who welded his front suspension solid?:D

Just a word of advice - avoid posting chassis numbers / VINs, etc. on public sites - just makes the ringers' jobs easier :(

The same goes for reggie numbers - especially if all your other specs (engine size, trim, etc.) are there too, I think it's relatively common for innocent people to be woken by the police at 3am for armed robberies :(

Thanks for the advice Martin. To be honest I did wonder about the advisability of posting my vin# on this thread, but I figured that as I'm based in So.Cal it shouldn't be a problem. Also, not to mention the fact that the Vin# sits there bold as day at the bottom of the windscreen for all the world to read!!
