Hi guys, Yesterday i finally got my two tank system up and running, i was given a alu tank from a boat a while ago and i purchased a pollack 6way solonoid valve from http://stores.ebay.co.uk/evalero1 he`s in the states but it arrived in 4 days and was as described.
So now i drive about 4-5 miles until the car is up to temp and switch over no change in note or performance from engine,i took me most of yesterday to plumb it in as i had to use diffrent size hoses and connectors to resize.
I have a flat plat heat exchanger to fit in between the fuel filter and the injection pump.
So far so good.
Any questions?
Ray
Prices The pollack was £32 delivered-about £42 over here and it came with the connector.
Tank free.
Hoses i used some proper fuel hose- £20-25 and some renforced pvc clear stuff so i could see any air trapped-i looped the veg return rather than sending it back to the veg tank-it means the veg will warm up through the ip and less chance of damage.
hose clips and fittings from a local hydraulics/compressed air supply place-£40 ish.

Good effort Ray, one question though, won't the oil get too hot if not running back to the tank, or will the heat exchanger cool it down enough when it gets hotter than the coolant temp.

I'd always written off the 2 tank systems as too expensive for me to try, but with the figures you have mentioned it seems far more reasonable now.

Do you foresee any problems with coking up of the injectors, or damage to them or the fuel pump?

The idea of the loop until i fit the heat exchanger is that there will be some diesel in the loop for a bit and this will halp thin the veg until it gets warm from going through the ip.
Coking of the injectors etc only happens when the oil is cold and mostly on di diesels.
the veg oil wont get hotter than the coolant-how can it?
i did take my time gathering the parts for the conversion and some of it is budget-like using a maplin dpdt switch at £1.50 instead of a pollack switch at £7.50.
i`m expecting to fill with diesel every 1.5 to 2 mths and use veg the rest of the time,i`m doing about 1600 miles a month.
If your still not convinced use this calculator http://www.dieselveg.com/vegmodel.xls click on the figures and put in yours it will tell you how many days it will take you to repay the kit price etc.
Good luck Ray
