Got my back box today and decided to fit it tonight, it started to rain and to top it off the nuts are seized solid! Any ideas other than take it to the backstreet garage at the end of my street on Saturday morning and let them at it!:~(

A BS is either a 2lb hammer or a gas axe depending upon which area of Brum you are from :)

A local visit to your friendly ATS or Quick fit is what I normally do, just ask them to loosen it up, or ask them to fit the back box.

Saves a few hours of trouble, let someone else do it! ;)

and also saves the skin on your knuckles too :)

Cheers people, have tried all but a gas axe! will take it in tomorrow if i get time, hopefully will be out celebrating the football result=P and wont have time to get it done!

It's not usually the nut seizing to the stud but actual corrosion of the nut itself, loosing it's 14 or 15mm hex for the socket to gain purchase on. This is when the fun starts.

The gas axe is not used to burn it off; otherwise you'd need a new centre section. It is used to merely warm the nut and coax it off the stud, which usually happens :)

Make sure a 6 point socket is used, that way the nut shouldn't round off too easily 8)

Right again Dave, the nut has rusted to the middle pipe mating flange! Will take it in when i get chance, it sounds awful>=(

Nothing is ever simple, is it?

Simple enough today, took it to the quick **** fitters and asked them to undo the bolts, they heated them up and they undid the bolts for me, gave me replacementnuts and bolts and charged me 2 quid!:D Makes a change, took the car back to my house and it only took me about 1/2 an hour to finish it8) Sounds nice and quiet again:D :D :D

Bloody hell - they must have been in a good mood following the footy :D
