Hi Dave,
Oh boy this is a long one :D
On Thursday I had my 75 booked in to the dealers to sort a couple of things out. 1. the rattle around the NSF air bag (which they couldn't find the culprit) 2. My light problem where they found a side light out, replaced it but couldn't find why a different bulb kept blowing every 2-3 weeks or so. 3. Water gathering in the compartment where the windscrean wiper motors / air filter is stored etc. Thiis they informed me was leaves which they had cleared and was now sorted.
Anyway got homw had a look at where the water was, lifted the bonnet, clipped off the plastic covers and had a look. to my supprise water was still there >=( I thoight okay no probs I will just tell them when I go back as I am awaiting parts anyway for the drivers seat lumbar support mechanism (which is bust). This was Thursday and I was traveling 300 miles to Northampton on Saturday.
On Friday at work it absolutly tossed it down all day. When driving home in the downpore I had my windscrean dimister blower on, every time I wen up a hill or accellerated I heard a strange noise like water being sucked through a vent :red: . This is exactly what it was I got home and looked over to the passenger side to pick my phone up and :red: water had been p***ing in and pool had gathered on the floor of the passenger foot well.
The garage was now closed and I was going 300 mile the next day so garage man Cave lept in to action 8) I looked in to where the water had been gathering and bush! it was totaly full with rain water. I quickly got my spanner and screw drivers and took the windscrean wipers off the motor pins removed the clips from the black plastic rim at the bottom of the winscrean, pulled of all the pannels and rubber seals to get in to where the water was. I then got a wire coat hanger and prodded around for a drain hole. After about five mins I found one and creared it alowing a gallon or two of water to gush out the bottom of the car. I fixed everything back the way it was and appart from being soaked because it was still chucking down (heavy) I was please with myself :D but mad because the garage had not cleared the area I had requested >=( .
Anyway getting to the question :eyes the water had been coming throught the air filter on the passenger side in to the car and hence the floor. Could this water have caused any problems electrical or otherwise, it all seams fine but I started the car on Sunday when setting off to come back from Northampton and a intermitant continuous tapping noise was coming from the area under the glove compartment I had a look and it seemed to be coming from a small black box attached to the central area under the passanger footwell. The tapping sounded like a servo was sticking or something? Anyway it stopped and I have never heard it since then.
Any comments or ideas Dave, or others for that matter?
Lee.
