Hi Dr Dave,

The right front wheel on my r400 makes a noise as if the brake pad is rubbing against the disc when i corner - is this a sign of bearing wear? Also the front brakes make the car sound like a push bike when its damp/wet outside! any ideas?

thanks
mike.

Knackered pads/discs?

Loose wheel?

Brake backplate touching disc on lower edge?

All fairly common complaints, nothing major.

Never had any front wheel bearing trouble on a 400 8)

I have a similar problem that I can't get rid of. When reversing, the back brakes make a dreadful sound and when driving forwards I have a squeek that disappears at 10mph. I got new pads all round and had tha garage look at it but they could not find a fault although they hear the noise??? The noise comes from the back only

Remove the pads, make sure they're free to move and grease them up with copperslip when refitting them; should be no noise then 8)
