aufo8mycow 23-03-2007, 23:57 Welcome to the club :) So much fun and oddly, unlike other rovers you actually get flashed, waved at..stopped..talked too by other coupe owners. These are of course a rare car (I know overall in the sense of the word) But in my town there is is only 2 with a further 2 in the next town (Alsager)
And I know, although I open it up sometimes.. I drive like a granny most of the time lol such a waste I know but kids see you in it and want to race in their beat up chavy corsa's lol... I am always happy in the knowledge that they won't be able to afford the insurance for a good 8 years when they can actually treat a car with respect!...bliss....and not turn it into a flashing Christmas tree!
Here is mine

The coupe IMO is the best looking rover you can get .I shall get one if i come across the right car(in red )Good luck with yours.

Yes, it needs some minor tidying up here and there paint-wise, but all in all a very good car... if only you knew what I paid ;-) For the first time in a long time I went out for a spin for the hell of it. Lots of fun :)

That's that sorted! Now the problem... nothing major. I've just picked up a Tahiti Blue touch up kit from Halfords, and it is far too light. Nothing like the colour of the car. Why would this be? I've had experience of the car's paint being lightened over the years and the touch up kit being too dark, but this kit I've bought is far too light. The paint code on the car is JRJ, which I've checked is Tahiti Blue, the kit is Tahiti Blue. But they don't match, nowhere near in fact, except that they're both a shade of blue lol! Any ideas?
Cheers.

There are often several flavours of the same colour name, I believe at least three variants of BRG (my coupe) for example. So even if the names the same the colour may not be.
Anyway, glad you liked my suggested buy :-)

And another one sorted! Took the touch up pen back to Halfords, and had them mix up the exact colour. There's seven types of Tahiti Blue apparently, how annoying! Never mind, it's done now, and the match is perfect. Those chips on the spoiler are tidied up now, so it's looking even better.
empsburna 25-03-2007, 17:21 ah, spoiler bubble - they will be back! lol.
hurry up wth those pics!

Yeah it was expected, so it wasn't a surprise when I saw the car for the first time. It's all been tidied up with the touch up paint, and is hardly noticable now. I've been out in the car all weekend with my mates, so haven't had time for posting up pics. When I get a chance next, i.e. next weekend, I'll get some sorted, but it is the car in the For Sale section advertised by Taine. I've had a couple of 200 Vi's before and I'd say this car is certainly quicker at the top end. It flies. It's quite shocking how quick it is. And Matt/Taine was right, the exhaust gives a very nice tone when dawdling and livens up on full throttle without ever being noisy. Great stuff.
empsburna 25-03-2007, 22:24 ah, you got that! why didnt you say!
nice motor - looks clean, hides the miles well!
Oh, and I just filled the tank back up after giving it a bit of welly and some town driving for 170 miles, and it averaged 37mpg. I'm impressed. There was definitely something wrong with my last 200Vi which averaged 27mpg on normal driving and 32mpg if I drove like a grandad. I'm going to use the car for my work commute this week to see how it does on a 120 mile M4 round trip each day. I'll report back how good the mpg turns out.
i would put some pics on but cant seem to get pics on site!!

You either need to host them elsewhere on the internet or become a supporting member of the site where you can post them up here directly.
only supporters can upload pictures directly to the site
you can use a hosting site such as imageshack.us and link the pictures to here though :)
edit, what he said!

Which part of the M4 do you commute, believe it or not Tahiti coupe's are the one colour I don't see on my daily journey between Cardiff & Bridgend.
Alan
I have to commute from Swansea to Newport everyday, which is a bit annoying. But the Coupe makes it a bit more fun. Hopefully it's only a temporary situation, as I don't think commuting all that way forever is healthy for me or the car!
