Hi,

I'm currently in the process of buying a 1999 reg. Rover 618. The car has the original Rover radio/cassette player. The first thing I want to do when I get the car is to fit a new single CD player (probably a Sony). Anyway, today I asked the dealer to remove the old radio so I could see the connectors. Altogether, there are four plugs. Two of them are rectangle ones (ISO I think) and one of them is a cirlular one - that one is for the electric aeriel. I'm not sure about the fourth one. Is this a standard setup and If I buy the car will a sony CD player fit the car?

Mike.

On rover 600's after 95 I think it was STD Philips stereos did not have a display to deter theft it used the same display as the clock…… So out off the three connecters you will only need two of them which will fit straight onto a Sony (had two sony's in mine)

Thanks for that. But what about the automatic aeriel? Will it work from the two connectors?

yes the arial is in with the two iso connectors.... the connector left over is only for the display/clock

HANG ON -- do u have steering wheel controls - if so u will need an adapter which costs about £30 from Halfords - it will only work with certain Sony systems == Well worth it in my opinion

Don't have steering wheel controls so I don't have to worry about that. I think the Sony unit I'm going to buy has remote steering wheel controls anyway.
