Hi All,

Have a few questions to ask, just about to buy myself the above car which has been well looked after (I know the previous owner). Do these have the intercoolers already fitted and if not is it a hard job to do. Secondly I've contacted ccctech about tuning the above car and have been quoted £260 inclusive to have the work done, looking at the forums and what people are doing, do you think the parts used are the TU1, de-cat etc etc that Ron sells ?

I'd rather go down Ron's route then something i've not seen much response on.

Any suggestions and/or help would be greatly appreciated.

By the way i'm in the Birmingham area and if anyone know's someone who can do the job at a reasonable price then please drop me their contact details.

Regards,
Dean.

If it is a Di then it'll have an intercooler as standard. The D's don't have one as standard.

First things to do in my opinion is fit a ron box and up the boost a bit (19psi). Then think about a decat and a backbox. Also a panel airfilter is probably advisable too.

Ron and CCC Tech both have great products. For a 25/ZR the Upsolute remap is the best route imo, as a Ron Box won't work with them, and they make the power delivery much smoother.

For an SDI, which is worth perhaps £1000-£1500, and an older car I don't think it's worth spending loads on tuning. For £260 you could get it remapped, but you could also get a Ron Box instead, and fit a panel filter and a nice shiny back box as well. That is what I'd do.

Ok,

Thanks guys, now the last part of my question.

I'm capable of doing basic stuff on cars, but know i'm out of my depth when it comes to anything electrical (even toasters have a habit of blowing up on me) so don't really want to try and fit Ron's items myself. Do you know of anyone within the Birmingham area (don't mind travelling) who could do these fitments for me and who won't charge the earth ??

Unless Ron has changed the design since I got mine you have to cut and solder and reinsulate 4 or 5 wires (I binned the scotchloks that ron supplies as although they work I never find them very reliable).
Its not difficult if you are happy doing some basic electrics.

I really wish it was that simple when I fitted mine!

Still, not too difficult, the instructions with the unit are very clear and easy to follow, just literally needing you to connect wires by colour.

May be worth doing as I did, which was fit with the supplied Scotchlocks just to reassure yourself that everything is the right way around, then solder the connections up.

Also on a seperate note:

Has anyone fitted the Angel Eyes headlights from Motobuild and if so how good are they, failing those how/where do you guys convert you headlights to clear indicators compared to the ever so tasteless yellow ones ???

That does sound more like a TU3, the TU1 has to be soldered or connected into the wires. Not nearly that easy, but still not impossible.
