WSR News: QUALIFYING REPORT - OULTON PARK - ROUND 13

Colin Turkington will line up at the front of the grid for the first of tomorrow's three Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship races at Oulton Park, Cheshire. Taking pole position in his WSR prepared Team RAC BMW 320si, the Northern Irishman was ecstatic to be heading up the pack once again, having claimed his first pole position of the year at this season's opening round at Brands Hatch.

After his first win of the season last time out at Croft, Colin has his eyes firmly fixed on the podium. He said: "I'm delighted to be on pole as we've been quick all day but I really surprised myself with the (qualifying) lap time as it was considerably quicker than I have been today. I'm very happy to get the extra point and pleased for all the team that it all came together for qualifying."

It wasn't such a good qualifying session for team-mate Tom Onslow-Cole as he suffered a minor neck injury following a collision with a tyre wall. It was a disappointing end to what would have been surely another fine qualifying performance from the BTCC rookie.

On completing only one flying lap, Tom said: "I thought I had the heat in the tyres and was pushing hard on my first lap. The first corner felt good but through Cascades, I under-steered a little on the corner, which pushed me wide on exit. I dropped the wheel off the circuit and I was a passenger from that point. Although the track was dry the grass was incredibly slippery and there was no chance of me saving it and I hit the tyre wall pretty hard. The guys have taken a quick look at the car and are confident that it will be fine for tomorrow."

Team principal, Dick Bennetts, said: "Colin has again done a storming job to get pole. It's disappointing for Tom starting from 18th and there is a lot of work for the boys to do to get the car ready but I'm still optimistic for the race tomorrow."
