Hi,

Sorry to ask for help straight away ask just joined the forum today! - but I came across this site via yahoo.

Last week, my nice shiny mg zt 260 had an accidient with a DB9 on a country road, luckly I have witnesses so I'm not to blame... however....

the garage can't get the parts! and the insurance say if the garage / I can't get the parts it may have to be written off because of one part.

The part I'm looking for is this
RBJ000761 offside lower arm - I've done plently of searches on the internet and no luck I do get links to this http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=rbj000761+&meta= but i've checked and the RBJ000761 code is a generic code for this and isn't a ball joint which is mentioned on rimmers, what I need is the RBJ000761 offside lower arm.

Do you where I could start or places or phone numbers or urls. - I can't believe they have to write it off because of one part.

Wondering if anyone can help me.

Thanks in advance

Geoff

Seems so obvious and I would guess you have but have you called all the ex mg dealers?

On a side note how bad was your crash? Did the db9 survive?

Contact Xpart (www.xpart.com) directly and should be able to put you through to a department called “Close Call” that deals with finding parts for MGR cars in this situation.

Try the guy selling this: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/MG-ZT-Rover-75-V8-front-subframe_W0QQitemZ320137065197QQihZ011QQcategoryZ1 0414QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
He posts on here (or another forum) - he broke a whole car to repair/build another one - he might have that bit spare.

Also, the guy selling this: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/MG-ZT-V8-Air-Flow-Meter_W0QQitemZ230125729557QQihZ013QQcategoryZ1041 4QQrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD1VQQcmdZViewItem
He has a load of V8 parts for sale. He might have the bit you need.

Geoff, this is from Andy. I bit of a result! Lateral thinking.

Tim,

Sorry for the delay in replying – I’ve been trying to source a ‘donor’ Rover 75 arm which could then be machined. I’m still hopeful but can’t commit to a time. Probably the simplest route would be to purchase the standard Rover 75 or front wheel drive MG ZT arm and then get a local machine shop to drill the arm – use the pranged arm for the dimensions. It is a simple machining job - a plain hole with a spot face. This is how the production ZT 260 arms were made. Take care to use the MG compliance bush (also common between front and rear wheel drive).

I will let you know when I get some parts. If you get sorted, I’m sure they will become useful eventually!

Best regards,

Andy

Do you want me to ask him to proceed? Can find out how much for you

Geoff let me know what you want to do, but don't leave it too long.

Tim,
I have been trying to source a supply of new parts via my contacts in China (but from the original Rover supplier, NOT a Chinese copy!). However, if time is against us, I can get hold of a secondhand Rover 75 arm. It should be with me by next weekend. Geoff can have it for the price of postage and a drink for my mate. It will need the anti roll bar attachment drilling as I’ve mentioned, which Geoff could get done using his arm as a pattern. Let me know if he wants it.
Best regards,
Andy

Try Andy at Rover Breakers in Middlewich Cheshire. www.roverbreakers.com (http://www.roverbreakers.com)

He has a V8 and is still getting parts out of Longbridge which is amazing!

I bought a complete fan and cowl off him a couple of weeks ago.

Best of Luck
