Evenin all,
My monitor has started making a really high pitched noise (the speakers are switched off - its the actual monitor that making the noise  ). Its not very loud but its giving me a headache.
The only thing I could think of doing was deguasing (sp?) it but this made bugger all difference. Has anybody got any ideas?
Its a Compaq monitor - about 2 years old and is running at 85Hz.
:spanner:
Cheers
Give it a forceful adjustment with the palm of your hand
Usually it is a dry joint, which can be a bugger to find.

I had already tried the method of "fine tuning" it with my hand ;) but it doesn't stop it.
The noise is really wierd - it seems to get louder if a popup appears until I close the window
Time for a 17" TFT then.............:dddc:

sounds to me like your tube is on it's way out, have you not noticed any strange things other than the noise like the picture fading away in the corners?

I havent noticed any other issues with the monitor. Its only a couple of years old so I'll have to dig out my receipt and see what kind of gaurantee they gave me.
It doesn't seem to be doing it today
I'd still guess at a dry joint.
Is it a bit cooler where you are today?

i work in retale and i happen to know if you investigate on the right of the buyer you will find that any item that is under 5 years old and is accompanied by a recipt then it is under what is called a repair warenty which means the shop has to send it away to be repaired at there cost but i would recomend you go in with the printout from the goverment site as not many people know about that law so sssssssshhhhhhhhhhh!!!.
