Friend of mine at work has an S reg Couger. The other day it decided to snap its cambelt (ouch). It's th 2.0 ltr model, not the 2.5 V6 and she's talking of scrapping it and has rang a few breakers who have said no call for Couger parts and offering silly money (up to around £200) for it (i don't believe this for a second). It's in good nick, just topped 100,000 miles but has been told the gearbox is on the way out (no other info on that) but was in daily use up to belt giving way.

Is it worth repairing, i love Cougers and could probably get it for £3-400 pounds.

Any thoughts o wise ones out there.

Excuse the stupidity, but, if I drop a Mondeo engine in it what about the gearbox, are they the same to drop in as well at the same time ?

I would imagine them being the same, but don't quote me.

I love the cougar, my dad had one a few years back, really nice car, especially the interior.

cheers

Complete lemon of a car unfortunately.

Not really much appeal in the world for them now. Worth it for a bit of cheap motoring, but they are only pence to buy these days in good nick.

One around this way went for £800 on an S plate the other month. Well that was its forecourt price so may have gone for even less.
