: Disgusted with Nintendo
- Paul - 11-12-2007, 13:02 Ever since the Gamecube it seems the Nintendo have been unable to cope with the supply and demand of there consoles.
This doesn't bother me too much as i'm not a big fan of Nintendo machines.
Of course now that i've come to need to buy one as an Xmas Present, its a different story.
I'm talking about the DS. Totally sold out everywhere, with no news of when stocks will be replenished.
I frankly find this disgusting for a machine thats well over a year old now.
But its the same old story with the Japanese Manufactures, us Europeans get shafted as I can guarantee this problem is non existent in America and Japan. (Its called looking after the market base).
Personally feel like saying '**** you' to Nintendo for how it treats us, but sadly their innovative machines seem to be popular, particulary with audiences that are not normally gamers so credit where credit is due.
But with Wii shortages too, there's gonna be a lot of disappointment this christmas, and for that Nintendo should be disgusted with themselves.
Grrrr
*Blocks ears to stop smoke coming out*
PS can anyone spot the words disgusting and disgusted in this message?
I have a wii and a DS, you can find them if you look hard enough :dddc:
book a flight to scotland....last time i went through stanstead the HMV in the departure lounge had just gotten 30 Wiis and some DS's. heard the workers talking about it
there just restricting supply to enhance demand, so they dont need to cut their prices - its a very very clever way of making sure you get top prices for your products - credit where credit is due :broon:
I was in Argos today buying Guitar Hero III and I put catalogue number in for the DS and they were in stock :err:
you can't fault free publicity. Especially when you're selling more of your device than your competitors are.
Hype is a wonderful thing, and we are a nation of sheep.

i couldnt agree more mate
its rediculous the way people go on in this country - i remember when the guiness flavoured marmite was supposed to be uber rare - i was in morrisons and there was around 60 jars of it on the shelves, ebay is your friend in situations like this, gotta love the sheepish british public :broon:

out of stock for home delivery, but you can go pick one up instore ;)
evilgangsta 11-12-2007, 14:42 From people I talk to who work at retailers they are not getting any less in than they usually do they are just flying off the shelves as soon as they put em out, so I really don't think nintendo are being crafty here and limiting supply.
I wanted to get a wii and ds at christmas but gonna wait till after now, rather than stressing trying to get one.

Yeah till you check stock at your local store and its out of stock.
Just checked every argos in kent they are all out.

Or FAR FAR better the f700 from samsung
or the HTC Touch or TytnII - if you don't mind walking around with it in your pocket looking like you're packing.
i was ribbing my mate about his gay iphone purchase last weekend
his lass bought it for him for crimbo - about 950 quid for the phone and contract
she then had to pay 500 quid for a laptop to register it on (apparently you can only do this once, and has to be done within a certain timeframe?) as his laptop packed in when she got home
so thats nearly 1500 quid for the use of a phone, a phone that cant forward text messages, send picture messages, take photos/videos, accept mp3s from other people, and no bluetooth
at the end of the night i wrote MUG in permanent marker on his forehead after he passed out from the beer

iPhone has no bluetooth??
Well thats just pants... I love having bluetooth!
Argos came up trumps for me on 2 separate occasions when I was tasked with getting Wii's for a couple of guys in our company. And it was our local little Argos that always seemed to get a couple in. Never any of the others. Weird, but as I say, it worked twice for me.
Always do the online check and reservation though, and do it before 15 minutes before the store opens.
- Paul - 11-12-2007, 15:11 Like I said, Argos did give me a glimmer of hope when I checked, but when you tick pickup instore... nothing.
There really is a shortage, and I don't care how clever Nintendo think they're being, it really isn't on.
Got 2 weeks to grab one still, but I really didn't want to be stressing seeing as i'm on top of everything else.
Moral of this story: Do all your xmas shopping in Oct/Nov
or the HTC Touch or TytnII - if you don't mind walking around with it in your pocket looking like you're packing.
It's big, but by God does it do everything
no1knows 13-12-2007, 11:20 can you not just buy internationally, isn't the wii able to play games from any region ??

yuppers! as i said earlier my mate bought ten, got them shipped over, and sold them to his mates - you need a dif plug though
i had same problems as i have 3 nippers & they all want ds lite.
cant get them anywhere - stores saying theyre in stock untill you actually order / pay, - im sure they think you'll say sod it i'll have a lawnmower instead.......
very frustrating i know.
anyway the only difference between US, UK, japan etc models,is the power adapter.
so make sure you have a uk adapter (if in uk!) & u'll be fine.
I got 3 in the colours i wanted with case, stylus & earfones for £93 & paid £20 for express courier to make sure they get here on time :)
seller is b2stores (i think!) - if you want one you better be quick for delivery...
state as well what adapter you need ;)
http://stores.ebay.co.uk/b2-stores :)
guy's name is Tommy something & really good communication - gets my rep !
*ps don't let the distance put you off - i've ordered stuff on the same day from USA, Japan & UK. - Jap mail always comes 1st, USA trailing behind due to customs probably.
2-4 days from HongKong is pretty good !!
Argos sorted us out a wii just in time for Xmas :)
liamfleming 22-12-2007, 11:19 game station has stock of both these consoles and so do block buster
good luck and happy christmas
got my wii at zavvi (virgin) in Maidenhead, berks. No trouble at all. I think those looking for just the console vs. console & games package will be out of luck, but packages are well in stock wherever i've looked (except argos strangely).
I managed to get some Wii's from Amazon and Tesco for friends and sold them for exactly what they cost me including postage. My next door neighbour who is a head teacher went into his staff room and asked "anybody here looking for a Wii" Most people's hands went up so he came round that evening and asked "Can you get more than one?" "Yes sure" I said. "Good, can I have 6 then" Although Amazon were allegedly restricting them to one per customer between them, Tesco and one other legit source I managed it.
This site gave me all the info I wanted: A bit late now Baz but let's see anyway please. (http://www.instockuk.com/nintendo-wii-stock-checker.html)
