Racing driver Lewis Hamilton has been banned from driving in France after being caught speeding at 120mph.

The 22-year-old, who narrowly missed out on this year's Formula One Championship, was given a one-month driving ban.
Hamilton's Mercedes was stopped by police near Laon doing 120mph, 40mph over the motorway speed limit, according to reports.
A spokesman for McLaren said: "McLaren were made aware that Lewis was stopped for speeding in France whilst driving in a private capacity.

"We understand he has received a mandatory fine and suspension from driving in France for one month."
The spokesman stressed that the incident would not affect Hamilton's professional driving career.

Meanwhile, Schumi races his taxi to the airport and the police are investigating: http://www.f1network.net/boards/read/s85.htm?85,8668917 Wonder if that was a Renault?

Laon, eh? these two shots of my two 180s were taken at the same picnic area in Laon.

It's true that in France the people who drive fastest without regard for the law tend to be in Mercedes.

Is the reason you can't see Lewis on the road behind them because he is going too fast?*

If you look carefully at the Give Way sign behind the red one, it says "Air de La SpeedingMercedes" crossed out. And 200mph!

The difference is Lewis can easily afford any fines etc and it's not gonna make much difference if he's banned for a bit cos there's always gonna be someone from McLaren to drive him.

Wonder how much the fine was? The ADAC reports that Kimi was once fined €500,000 for speeding 45km/h over the limit on a road in Finland...
