just wondering if a rover 220 turbo (1992) coupe bumper will fit onto rover 214 cabriolet (1995 wedge) without any problems? any help is much appreciated, thanks.

As said above they'll fit. They are the same bodyshell so most bits are interchangable :D

yeah, defo easy job, 10, 15 min job

take a look at my pics, i did the exact same job, got front and rear bumpers from a coupe of same colour for 60 quid at local salvage yard, also got a boot spoiler and colour coded body modulings too!

result

transformed the look of the car.

I've got the Coupe F+R bumpers on mine as well as the coupe side mouldings, also got the Gti spoiler and the short side skirts too. Had to get everything re-sprayed though as my cab is in caribbean blue which the coupe never came in which was a bit of a pain, but know a few people in the trade who sprayed them up for me in their spare time.

Also got the MG ZR/ZT 17" alloy's on it.

If they had looked like mine when they came out of the factory, I think they would have sold like hot cakes considering they were up against the Astra GTE convertable and the Escort XR3i cabriolet back in the day but the bog standard car just didn't look sporty enough IMHO, even the 1.6 with the twin exhausts didn't.

There are 2 pics of the back end of mine, a before and after shot in the gallery on here. Will have to put some more up now the front and sides are done too.

Yep they're "Roversports" styled skirts as made by moto-build, Mega rare now. And they're plastic not fibreglass.

That looks great, I'm beginning to think the spoiler is a bit too much on mine though after seeing yours Southside..

for some reason i also think the cabbys look better without the spoilers. i think with the coupes they need a spoiler due to the large gap that leaves from the rear window to the boot area. just the wayit curves down. but with the cabbys it looks just right.

davie27
25-01-2008, 05:15
i reco urs looks spot on with the spoiler bazr.if you compare a cabby with normal bumpers on n not coupe bumpers i think u,ll see the back end looks to plain without the spoiler.i think its the rear bumper that takes your eye away from the boot area.:bgrin:

CabrioletPilot

I think the spoiler finishes it off. It looks too plain without one, almost like the saloon 400 !!!. I must say that I prefer the Gti spoiler though rather than the coupe spoiler, which is why I went for the Gti spoiler on mine.

Southside

Gti spoiler has the hole for the rear wiper though, I had the coupe spoiler on mine and hated it, i think it looks out of place when the roofs down not to mention not being able to use the ariel for the stereo.

i was just thinking that south side.what about the cars that come as standard with that type of spoiler.wheres the aerial? the other side of the car? aint there a way to make a recessed hole in the spoiler for the aerial to poke through?

Ariel comes up the drivers side front piller then out by the roof on the saloon and hatch, then in the centre of the roof at the rear on the coupe.

dont the cabbys have them as standard? look sweet on a cabby :@)

That wiper hole is the only downside of the Gti spoiler, but I hardly notice it. Only time it is a pain is when washing and polishing !!.

You can see in this pic, my aerial works just fine with the Gti spoiler too, just have to remember to turn off the stereo before opening/closing the boot !!!.

There is about a 1-2mm gap so yes it is a bit close, but I don't mind it being a bit tight ;) ha ha !!
