The words you are possibly looking for right now can be derived from the initials WTF. What you see before you is believed to be a new mini-SUV concept set to be unveiled by Lada at the Moscow Motor Show which commences on the 28th August.
We have already heard about another mini-SUV concept for the same show – the Mazda Kazamai which incorporates the Japanese firm's Nagare design language. Perhaps Lada are trying to get in on the act with their own design language as displayed in this concept.
We have our own opinions on about the model but in view of the fact small children read this site, it is probably best not to voice them.

MGROVERnut 18-08-2008, 23:09 Might look mental but I actually think this type of small SUV will be the next big thing. OK the Land Rover LRX concept is a billion times better, but the conceptually I see a few trends emerging....
It's funny about a decade ago I asked an engineer at Land Rover which SUV car manufacturer they feared the most. The answer was Lada, The Cossac was the only SUV that could follow a Land Rover offroad at the time and the fear was they might get their act together..... guess they need not worry.
Reminds me of a shoe car like this for some reason

I don't doubt that small SUV's will be popular in years to come, but that Lada concept is just damn ugly and crazy.

or a Dutton
Either way it looks like a kit car with a cheap GRP body and designed-in-a-shed styling. Ugh.
good to see the Eastern Bloc hasn't lost their sense of humour during these desperate times ;)
MGR_Petrolhead 19-08-2008, 11:19 That is absolutely crackers!!
I think its trying to be "futuristic" in a 1964 kind of a way - but fails, miserably.
MGR_Petrolhead 19-08-2008, 11:59 I wouldn't say it totally fails - the doors and headlamps could be of use...

I dont think it fails entirely, i can sort of see what they were trying to do. There are the beginnings of a decent profile there, but obviously a long way to go yet.
it would be dramatically improved if the rear wheels were the same size as the front and the rear arches actually sat over the wheel!
Don't the larger wheels usualy go on the rear?
Don't the larger wheels usualy go on the rear?
Not if it was designed by an idiot they dont!
david_r_bates 19-08-2008, 16:42 If we're going to have rear facing cameras instead of wing mirrors (please tell me those are rear facing cameras...) surely we could style them so they dont stick out into the airflow like, um, wingmirrors? Is that not kind of the point?

I agree, reminded me of something out of the TV series UFO or some kind of crappy bond gadget, thingy...looks garbage to be honest.
Si:-)

MGR_Petrolhead 19-08-2008, 17:51 Would your opinions have been the same if a western European manufacturer had made this?
That thing it so mad and crazy that I find myself liking it, even though I know I shouldn't. If you know what I mean...:errx2:

I understand your opinion, I partially have it myself.
I don't know why but I could see the Bond badge been resurrected on this kind of vehicle!
Would your opinions have been the same if a western European manufacturer had made this?
I don't care who made the car, if aston martin made it, I still wouldn't like it. The name on the badge doesn't affect me really, as long as the car is good and not ugly lol.
miketata 19-08-2008, 20:18 I dont mind it ....it doesn't look as radical or stupid as the Ford Ka when it came out. It's a matter of changing style and taste. Gen Y would like it.
I've owner three Nivas over 20 years and yet to find anything as remotely good offroad, and more reliable than LandRover/ RangeRover imo.
Apart from the vicious front bumper, the tiny wing mirrors (cameras?) and that awful colour I quite like it :)
