: Photoshop - Tinted Windows
I was recently asked how to tint car windows in photoshop, so here I go:
I'm starting with the same pic as usual, the 25 I've been using the other tutorials so far.

Firstly, carefully select the area(s) you want to tint using the lasso tool, like this:
http://i286.photobucket.com/albums/ll84/ralz0r/Photoshop/Guides/Tints/Select.jpg
Make sure you select carefully, and select around window wiper, wing mirrors etc.
If you want to select multiple areas, set the lasso tool to "Add To Selection" in the top right hand corner:
http://i286.photobucket.com/albums/ll84/ralz0r/Photoshop/Guides/Addtoselection.jpg
Then, go to Layer>New Fill Layer>Solid colour...
You will get a box like this:
http://i286.photobucket.com/albums/ll84/ralz0r/Photoshop/Guides/Tints/colourfilllayer.jpg
Leave the settings as they are in this pic for now, and click OK.
A new windows will open about the colour, set it to black if it isn't already, and click OK.
You should be left with something like this:
http://i286.photobucket.com/albums/ll84/ralz0r/Photoshop/Guides/Tints/solidtint.jpg
Now we need to make it transparent. To do this, open the 'Layers' menu. (Window>Layers. Or F7). The layer menu looks like this:
http://i286.photobucket.com/albums/ll84/ralz0r/Photoshop/Guides/Tints/layertool.jpg
Select the fill layer for the window you are tinting, and adjust the Opacity slider just above it. Adjust the transparency until you get something you are happy with.
Once you get your prefered level of tint, I would suggest blurring the edge of the tints so they blend a bit better, but that up to you.
Heres my finished product:

Now go tint some windows!

Now go tint some windows!
i spent £150 on my tint's
back 3window's had 5% and front side windows had 75%
its illegal to have anything more then 75% on the front side window's and illegal to have tint's on front screen.

Wide arch kit might be a bit difficult, I'm still a n00b afterall. Might give it a go at some point though.
erm you kinda screwed up the window tinting mate if you want i can get a procedure to vmodding :)
Y whats he done wrong? If im right ralz is new to photoshop himself and is learning through trial and error. But theres always two ways to skin a rabbit!

he should cut fully around the window wipers and slightly darken them to give of the fully tint look without you noticing the original at the bottom if you get me lol

No offence taken mate, I don't pretend to be great at it, its just that there were no photoshop turorials on here and I was starting to learn how to do it so thought I'd help some other people get started. I just thought it would be better than nothing.
I can do most of the little bits, and a few slightly harder bits, but I seem to have real trouble blending some colours in, like putting a black bumper on a grey car and then matching the bumper to it.
These are a couple of pics I was playing around with a while back, not particularly good, but thought I'd have a mess about one evening.

Ok, had a little go at designing and brushing my own kit onto the Fabia, and I must say it is much easier than I thought, I know my attempt isn't perfect, but I found it soooo much easier than grafting a kit on from another car and re-colouring it.
Heres my quick attempt, still a WIP:

well the good thing is your a quick learner and brushing and designing is the hard part lol other stuff is only u need to make it smoother like rims dont look flat anymore when you smudge and blur it doesnt show on the bodywork etc
Yo Ralz saw this tutorial for flip paint, thought you might like!
How are the pics going?

Just a quick note, that if you have more time and want a better look - pentool is often better way of making your selection from my experience and what I have been taught, using as few a points as possible and adjusting them using handles to get the right shape as opposed to the lasso - can also take your time while doing it as it doesnt have to all be done at once
This selection was done using the pen tool method
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v489/lieutenant_L/Work/interpretation%20project/edit3.jpg
(the space ship is a model take from a photo shoot - background is an image from internet )
Notice though, there is no white outline or anything around the ship or details of it - because using a pentool you have full control over what is being selected
I might have a document on it if you want it

This is bang on the money, the pen tool is the only way to go, the post adjustability to get it perfect is unparalelled.
Using anything else is futile when you have the pen tool dialled =D
Thought id share a flier id did tonight for the local car group.

and yes that pen tool is very useful. However how can you get rid of the grey area as you are doing it?

Watch for the upcoming thread on 'How To: Angel Eyes' =D
EDIT: Just realised I wont be using the pen tool! Haha!
At the top on your tool option the first 3 option are 'Shape Layers' 'Paths' and 'Fill pixels'
Make sure that the middle option, 'Paths' is selected and that should eliminate your grey areas or other coloured areas.
EzekielKnobrott 23-01-2009, 22:58 Scrap that I cant post in how to due to not being a paying member =[
Guess the angel eyes will remain a mystery =[
