Hi

I would like to start by saying what a great site this is, I have read lots of threads about Rover's head gasket problem.

I have the dreeded HG problem and the local garage tells me 500 - 600 pounds.

I would like to know if its possible to replace k series engine for model that does not have the HG problem. ie none rover engine.

I like my Rover but would not spend the money on a head gasket just for it to go again.

Thanks for you time reading my post.

Before you consider another engine, bear in mind that if the headgasket is replaced with a modified (MLS?) one your car will be as good as any other.

All cars have some degree of risk of HGF, but general opinion is that the problem of the weak gasket on the K-series is sorted by fitting a modified replacement. :)

There is no easy engine swap.
A replacement gasket should last at least as long as the original and probably as long as you keep the car. eBay prices start at around £350, but read the diagnosis thread first to make sure this is your problem. There is a lot of mis-diagnosis around. ;)
