Bought this on steam today, special forces edition... not really sure if its worth the extra few quid, but 17.49 its a bargain. Already had 6 hours gaming from it. not played a strat game in ages, but this is excellent, so detailed. the sea battles are my particular favourite.

I loved this battle though, storming a french fort, i sent the coldstream guards and highlanders in the front over the wall, while suporting with artillery. In the meantime i snuck a company of green jackets round the back, taking out some frogs on the way. once in the back, they took out some cavalry from the wall. By this time the cold stream guards had captured the gate and allowed my heavy cavalry in. GAME OVER :)

not really had chance to explore the multiplayer or campaign modes yet. Bargain of a game.

Ive been playing for a few weeks now Have taken out the french and spanish and own most of america now.
Loving the rocket artillery and really like the new way of researching technology.

Digging up an old thread but I bought this when it was 'cheap' and then realised it wasnt cheap enough! What a waste of money, I really enjoyed the other Total War games and still play Rome Total War from time to time, but this is terrible. The battles are ok but pretty boring, lining up slow shooting troops till one army is dead. The land management is just so simplified its like empire total war is to rome total war what checkers is to chess.
