Hello,

I wonder if anyone could help me. I have got a Rover 214 with the f/f alarm. The problem is it keeps going off when it feels like it (even when locking the door with the key) I have taken it to a Rover garage but they can't find anything wrong with it. Well they did change something on the drivers side door anyway but that didn't help

I would like this disabling, but the Rover garage said this cannot be done, does anybody know of any cheap way of removing it. I know its attached to the horn but I can't even find that.

Thanks
David

Not sure if that Alarm has current sensing ability.
I know my other alarm on my other car did and when i left my phone charger plugged in and locked my doors the alarm triggered.
Otherwise check the switches Bonnet/Doors ..

Let me know how you got on

Does the dash LED fast flash when you lock it?

What age is your car?
Does it have infra red remote CDL or radio frequency remote locking?

I do have some pointers but it does depend upon the age of the car :bandit:

I'm having exactly the same problem with my M reg 214Sei. It goes off anytime it feels like it whether I lock it by the key. Although it seems to only ever go off during the winter months. The garage replaced both the front door sensors when I asked them about it, but this hasn't fixed the problem.

Any idea Dave?

my 98 214Si had this problem. alarm used to go off for no reason. it just cleared up all by itself. perhaps try new batteries in the handset.

Tried the fiddling with the boot sensor, hasn't gone off again (yet).

Tried it with a new handset I got when I bought the car, that does the same too

Bonnet sensor?

These can go rusty you could replace it or attack it with a can of WD40

Let us know how you get on
