as it says the freelander only has 3rd gear and reverse, ive been on ashcroft auto website and the FAQ say the box needs reconditioning. as i dont have £995 + vat at the moment ive found a td4 gearbox on ebay for £600 with warranty but will it bolt up to the engine? ive noticed the KV6 has other bolt holes on the bellhousing so could it be possable?

It will bolt on, however the gearbox casing won't have the fittings for your IRD.
