Remember this list? It was the start of a very interesting thread that got hijacked. :(
My list of the 14 new models:
MG 6 saloon
AP12 MG 5 hatchback
AP13 MG 5 saloon
AS21 small Roewe (350) SUV
ZP11 MG 3 Hatch
ZP13 Roewe 150 saloon
W5 big Roewe (Kyron) SUV
AM11 small Roewe (350) MPV (Similar to Shanghai Volkswagen Touran)
BM11 large Roewe (550) MPV
Roewe 350 interim change
Roew 550 interim change
MG6 interim change
Roewe 750 generational change
MG7 generational change
Roewes are not coming to the UK so what do you think is next from that list? The MG6 saloon may be needed for Continental Europe so I don't include it.
There's no sportscar on the list so a punt on "a sportscar" doesn't count.
MG5 (similar size to ZS saloon)?
MG3 (similar size to VW Polo)?
Other?

I would hope that we would see the MG 3 assembled (or at least finished off) at 'MG Birmingham' as it is now called (mainly because that is most likely to be the model that would interest me in the future). It will fit into a very high volume sector of the market, which in turn gives the potential for a higher level of sales than the larger models.
The downside for the MG 3 is perhaps that margins on smaller cars tend to be smaller too, so it will need higher volume to generate as much income as a larger car.
MG 6 by comparison appears to be somewhat 'between classes', which makes it a bit of an uncertain quantity sales wise - it could limit it, or it could help it (the similar sized Skoda Octavia does OK).

MG 3...is most likely to be the model that would interest me in the future. Me too - it's in the "fits in Pat's Garage" class and in the "reportedly £5,900 new" class too (though that could have been some kind of misunderstanding)...

Local MG dealer has told me that this is the latest time table:
MG6 Hatch (late this year)
MG6 Saloon (April/June 2011)
MG6 Diesel (Dec 2011)
The MG Zero (1st half 2012)
The european Launch sould coinside with the diesel option one would think?

I agree, LHD sales will reportedly coincide with the introduction of a diesel, along with fleet sales, It would make sense to have a saloon for the fleet market too.
AFAIK the MG3 will be the first road-going version of the Zero but, as we have seen, more than one model is envisaged on that platform...
