Nice car, right colour too!

What went wrong with the diff, if you don't mind me asking?

Awesome performance for not a lot of cash this car :D

Cheers Dave, she's a beaut' (not that I'm biased:D)

The original diff effectively melted. Nothing to do with how hard car was used - thinking is that it was probably caused by car being sat in Japan and then shipped back - not moved/used so possible partial seizure. Anyway, all fixed now and running v/sweet.

DP.

Is this classed as an import? if so does it affect your insurance? i have been looking for a decent example for a while.......

thanks

Hmm, I'm reasonable sure it will be classed as an import, as it was originally made for the Japanese market, but then due to B*W, wasn't sold and a load of MGR cars were shipped back.

The good thing with them though, is that they are usually loaded with extras!

Steve(s).

The car in question, which is mine btw, was originally one of 50 exported to Japan by Rover UK for sale by Rover Japan. All that happened was that the salesmen had great fun driving them and did not sell them. After 12,000 miles they were all brought back to UK by Rover UK and sold to the Rover UK dealers hence you'll find it's not classified as an import. Mine came from SMC Slough. My car was given a 3 year warranty by Rover UK. I have also had it serviced by Rover dealers.

It has also been insured without any problems or mention of it being an import.

Cheers

Ah ok - I wasn't sure if it would be or not.. not that it really matters now the car is past warranty age anyway.

Used to have one of these from Japan.

I insured it with CIS, can't remember the Premium but the Car was superb. With the added benefit of Full Leather, Air Con, 3rd Rear Brake Light etc. over the std. UK models.

I explained the details of the car to my Insurance rep. who then insured it the same as a UK model.

I owned it for 18 months with no problems at all.

Get the boost changed to give 240bhp and p**s of all those Scubby owners.

Only slight downside I saw was the handling which could have been better.

Apart from that, can't recommend them enough.

5teve - The car is based on the Surrey/Hampshire border.

Heweyvts - my present car is a Scooby RB5. To be honest, in std form a 220 Coupe Turbo will easily keep up with a std UK Scooby in a straight line............(don't want this to degenerate into a your car vs. my car thread)

Cheers
