Are you breaking or do you know a salvage where i can get a complete engine for my above car A un diagnosed oil problem as resulted in the pistons smashing into my engine block.I am unemplyed ,a recent widower with 4 kids...of whom 1 as cerebal palsy so my car if a must....
its cheaper to get a 75 diesel engine as soon as you mention freelander to breakers they triple the price

Would the undiagnosed oil problem be anything to do with the turbo or intercooler awash with the stuff? You will need to swap the turbo components over from Rover 75 to Freelander, or accept that a certain amount of re-coding is going to have to be done to get the R75 engine controller to work in a Freelander. Both engines are the same base, but the injectors and turbo/manifold are different between them, and whilst a Freelander ECU will run a R75 engine, it won't be running sensibly. The Freelander injector flowrates are lower than R75, and the R75 has a conventional wastegated (MHI) turbo versus the AlliedSignal VNT turbo.
