Why cant they just set a launch date and stick to it, its not like they have any major issues to sort as they have been selling it in China for months, in my opinion all the delays dont give a very good impression, it just seems like an ever moving goal post.

I am thinking that if it has been delayed then they may have some quality problems or shipping problems. I can't wait for MG to start selling it and see them on the road.

I cant see it being quality problems as they will have been knocking them out by the thousands in China, its not like they have had to make an radical changes for the European version.

Well you don't know, the whatcar reader review was hardly amazing, they expect the car to have 'perfect' quality...
eZNMDLnSZUE
I do not expect perfection, especially from a new car company, that one guy trying to compare it to a VW was an idiot, MG are not trying to rival VW, they are trying to rival Alfa Romeo and Mazda etc in my opinion.

I heard months ago that it would be launched proper in March, somewhere on this Forum.. so its no suprise. Getting the car spot on and launching at the right time are massively important for MG.

Comparisons with VW.. well not a bad target seeing as most people (including myself) hold these cars in high regard. The MG6 and the 3 have simular styling to the latest VWs too.. Indeed when I saw the MG6 in Morecambe thats what it reminded me of a Mazda 6 with a VW face.. both not bad lookers in these days of generic looking cars

Dubai have different standards to us though, we are a load of fussy morons who don't understand the most important part of a car which is the handling like that bloke said, reliability, build quality (how well screwed together it is), space, economy, price and other things. That's just my opinion, but I am not so narrow minded by moaning about the quality of the plastics even though I expect some decent plastics which I think the MG6 has, the MG3 interior does look cheap though compared to the MG6 so I expect that to improve.

considering the state of our roads , ride quality would be pretty high on the list surely.
it is high on my list when i look for a car.

Yes I forgot about that, and I forgot about equipment, MG6 is very well equiped for its money.

Not sure if it's because im getting old or the roads are getting worse.

Cupra is very very stiff for these roads.

The MG3 is only half the cost of the MG6, it should be "cheap compared to the MG6" !!!

...the Dubai testers did have a hostage screaming in the boot though...

In Germany, a Volkswagen is more like how we view a Ford here - maybe a little more solid, perhaps. There, the VW Golf alone has 10% of the market, outselling total Opel production all by itself!

Man, What Car? is sooooooo dull. And really, do I care what a Honda Accord driving business analyst with a ponytail and crap shirt thinks of the dash design? No.

Price it right with the correct options and engines, keep an eye on quality and I think the MG6 should be a good seller. It's a sleek design and a genuinely interesting alternative to other marques.

re: launch timing:

As Guy said in his recent live session, we never felt that trying to push for a winter launch was a sensible tactic and the cars will arrive in dealers in April. We are keeping an advanced test drive book, which you can add yourself to now at www.mgmotor.co.uk and these will be distributed to the local dealer, including pending new appointments, in good time to arrange dates and times in April. / Keith

The nice new showroom at Fordthorne in cardiff, that I assumed was being built in readiness for the MG6 as they are also 'MG Cardiff' is in fact a Volvo showroom! They have taken on a Volvo franchise too.

So no special MG showroom. They have a solitary TF on display with the Fiestas. No branding visible to passing traffic, just huge Ford and Volvo signs, and a tiny ragged, MG flag.

Things need to improve if they are to shift MG6s.

Saying that, there was someone there with his 60 plate TF 85 - looked like he was just calling in for something. It did look nice.

Having been driving a poverty spec 2010 Astra Sport courtesy car this morning, I'd say that there are massive quality issues to iron out if they want the MG6 to compete.

It's chalk and cheese, I'm afraid.

When i worked for SAIC i started testing MG6 in July 2008 ! Nearly three years on and all they had to do was a right hand drive dash and pedal box, new anaologue clocks, seat trim, suspension tweeks and wheels.

It still isnt in production! Wonder what the next excuse will be for the delay!

Jaguar Land Rover has warned some of its most talented UK managers to consider relocating to China or risk being passed over for a promotion to the board.

I thought they were Indian, why go to China when wages are lower in India?

Interesting comments in the comments section of that article...

Good luck to those who accept the challenge and eensure we have a strong British footprint in the Chinese eeconomy.

With most of the country skint and largely in a state of depression, now, next month or the following few months is not the ideal environment to launch any 'new' car here.

I assume that you intended to refer to SAIC Motor UK Technical Centre Limited (SMTC UK). I have just done a WebCHeck on the Companies House website and the only MG Motor-named company registered would appear to be MG Motor UK Limited...
