I saw a Coupe for sale today, with a bonnet hump. I thought it was either as 220 or 220 Turbo as I thought the only ones with the hump were the 2 litre cars.
I've just got an insurance quote for it today, and it says it's a 216! Was my original thinking right or am I getting confused? :p

Yeah, although I believe the VVC also has the 'hump'.
if its different, it may point to an engine change or front impact which lead to a new bonnet.
Perhaps Dave could tell you the originial fitment if you email him the VIN??
Cheers Steve
It was a private sale and I saw it on the way back from Fords of Winsford (see seperate thread in general chat).
I'd imagine it'd have 1.6 as standard if that's what the insurance company say?
Ah well, I'll have to look a bit longer for that turbo! :(

Hiya
All the coupés had the bonnet bulge, only 2 litres on the hatch backs.

Cheers Phil.
That'll help when I'm trying to find one at least.

The bonnet bulge was originally intended as a functional part of the bonnet, as the 2 litre lump's cam cover stuck up too high and thus the bulge gives it room!
However this bulge made the car look so much better so they put it on all coupes.
:)
My mate reckons that the hump came about on the first ever 2 litre 16v car, when they shut the bonnet, the engine hit it and they said "oooops" as it left a dent
Of course thats not true....................is it? :bgrin:

lol.
Ah, I didn't know that Phil, thought the coupes were the same as the hatchbacks with the bonnet hump.
Have to admit though, they do look nice with those bumps! :)
