Just put my 600 through yet another MOT...it failed but only on a track rod end (done myself in half an hour at a a total cost of £18) and a tiny bit of welding needed down at the back wheel arch at the back door which my mate is doing tomorrow and should take no time.
Not bad for a car I bought 2 & a half years ago for £250. This is my 2nd 600, the last one I bought for £500 and I had it 4 and a half years then some nice lady driver crashed into me and wrote it off!!

GOOD MAN! http://forums.mg-rover.org/images/icons/icon14.gif
Another R-600 lives for at least another year!!
Mines due its 3rd MOT in Jan, (since Ive owned it), P reg, near 180k, sweet runner. Had the usual rear brake issues which in fact turned out to be seized brake cable in the end... heater motor/fan died and got replaced, tho other than that, very happy, and paid £280 for it!!
You do get a decent car for the money with the 600 series, Id have another without questioning it, tho now I know what they are like Id prolly spend more for a smarter car, not that mines a scrapper mind you!!
Thanks for posting and excellent news.. a very good cheap car often over looked.
re. Welding ? Was that just an advisory ? As my MOT guy says can't fail on body rust unless - sharp / dangerous etc or within 12 IIRC inches of a major component/seat belt anchorage etc etc. Is your MOT place 'picky' ?
ie
Body condition and security
• The vehicle body must not insecure or displaced so as to constitute a risk of loss of control of the vehicle when driven, or a danger to other road users.
• There must be no dangerous sharp edges or projections caused by corrosion or damage
Corrosion
A vehicle can fail with respect to corrosion for:
• Excessive corrosion in a 'prescribed area' - within 30 cms of certain components, e.g. brakes, steering, suspension, seat belt mountings etc.
• Excessive corrosion in a 'prescribed area', but which is likely to adversely affect the vehicle's brakes or steering.
Note
'Excessive corrosion' can mean a hole or a significantly weakened structure.
Technically the rear arch is within 30cm of a suspension mount.
Most MOT testers have some degree of common sense though.

The failure ticket said the rust was seriously affecting it's strength within 30cm's of the body mountings!
The girl driving who wrote my other 600 off was driving a VW Polo but came right thro' a junction (she shoulda stopped at...green L plates and all) and hit me on the back quarter...the insurance wrote it off gave me £600 and I bought this one so happy days.
This 600 is on 145308 miles and still going strong & I Love em
