: Cheap Car for under £1k
1.4 or Less motor wanted
Hello Guys,
I'm looking for a winter run-about for less than £1,000 and so I can teach the Mrs to drive.
I will consider anything under 1.4 or even a diesel - Cash is waiting and I'm keep to get a car sooner rather than later! As long as it's less than £1,000
Hopefully in the Exeter/Devon Area. However, I will go further for a better car as long as it's less than £1,000!
I've got £1000 only to buy a Winter run about!
Ta
Any car you have in mind yet?
Renault Clio 1.4 - Bit price at the moment
Pug 306 1.4 - Common as fak
Pug 205 - **** box
Festa/nova/polo - **** boxes
106 - Bit pricey
Rover metro/100 1.4 Diesel - Ideal?
Cit Ax - bit naff but ok
Astra 1.3/1.4 - Ideal?
Rover 214 - **** box
Any other suggestions?
Nothing wrong with a 214 ;)

Yeh! I test drove a mint one - I said it was good that the rear wings/arches and sills had been replaced and he swore blind it was original! He was still denying it as I wiped the wet underseal off my hand - I didn't mind the fact it had been done - It would of save me doing it for the MOT the next year! He just lied to my face - So I walked away! Clutch was a two foot job too - Not Ideal for the lovely lady to drive :(

Agreed! But there's nothing "right" with them!
But seriously mate, it's off the preferred list
Typical,
This time last year, my mum, sold her absolutley mint fiat uno on a g plate. It (I'm sure) was the only fiat of it's age not to have a single bit of rust on it, the engine had done 60'000 and was mint, I put a new exhaust and two new tyres on it, and the tyres and exhaust cost more than what we sold it for. In fact for the amount we got, i should of took it to a race track and killed it
oh well
thats life
:( Why does everyone see this as an opportunity to tell me what they just sold?!?!!?!?
How does that help me??? Really?
Guy at work has a Peugeut 306 on about an H plate I think. 6 months mot and a bit of tax.
£100 and all it needs is a rear quarter light to replace the bin bag.
Down side is that it is in Norwich
Let me know if you want some details.
Stu
Cheers mate!
Can you look into it - It won't be a 306 on a H-Plate - It's too old!
Maybe a 205 - Little hatch
or a 305 - Massive big 7-seater estate thingy
But - Yes interested - Unless it's a GTI or something?!?!
Norwich?? Get a train and drive it home :)
What a bargain it would be if it was a 306. Bit of a typo
It's a 309. But yeah I will find out for you. He's looking to offload as soon as due to him getting his old mans 406.
I'll ask for the details tomorrow.
Stu
Mate, have you tried your local car auction house, i know it's a bit of a gamble with what you buy but you can (as you probaly already know) pick up a bargin (or a bucket of rust!) :)
Yeh - But it's on a Wednesday and I can't get time off work! :(
king arthur 15-11-2002, 21:00 How far do you want to travel? I might be able to find you a Clio or a 106 for a grand - they'd have to be older than M reg though. Alternatively I could ask my brother, he's in Plymouth and tends to do more expensive stuff, but might have taken in something as P/X like what you're after.
Thanks for all your help lads!
I have just purchased a 93 L 1.2 Clio RL Prima thingy!
It's done a massive 47K FSH, 4 new tyres, mint condition (no oil leaks at all, good brakes and everythings A1 (accept 1 scratch and a broken interior light - but I did that  ) , New MOT and some Tax!
Bargain at £1200 :D
Where did your Clio come from? Autotrader? Auction house?
