I saw a ZS today on the back of a trailer and it was gorgeous

it was a blue colur which changed to green (you know the 2 tone colurs you get on some of the TVR's)

It looked simply incredible

That'll be typhoon then...

Very nice, but an expensive option. £1800 on a ZS.

1st refuel - 34.5mpg - mix of all sort - motorway, traffic jams, country, round town. I don't think that's bad.

I assume it'll get better as the engine loosens up?

Not bad at all m8! In my experience it improves a bit, but not much. Best way to improve it is not to drive like a maniac! ;) :p

But that's not as much fun though. I really want a ZR-TD or ZS-TD, those would be so much fun and get 40-50mpg as well :D :D

GarethP
15-11-2002, 16:16
41.2 today (been taking it a bit easy)

spacemanstu
16-11-2002, 16:40
Gotta be a 120 hasn't it,

If its a 180 he's pushing it up the hills and coasting down!!, or unplugged 3 of the 6 pots

I've never got more than 30Mpg from my 180............

...... but it does sound sweet when you wind it up

Dr Dave
16-11-2002, 17:15

I recall my ZS120 with some fondness - that was veryu good on the jungle-juice too.......which is more than I can say for my 180!

That's why I have swapped for a 75CDT for a while - got some long trips coming up :bandit:

GarethP
16-11-2002, 19:17
yeah, you're all right - 120+.

Desperately wanted a 180, but the extra £1500 a year on comany car tax was just too much - maybe next time!!

Ah, yeah, the old g/CO2/km again - 227 for the 180 is a bit high

zs180-warp
16-11-2002, 21:42
I don't worry about that, seeing as I dumped the company car and took the allowance instead!! :D

But I agree fuel economy is a bit on the poor side, especially when you rag it round a track!! 18-20 MPG is about all I was getting!!:err:

Dr Dave
17-11-2002, 07:45
Yeah but that was with some complete and utter nutter driving it wasn't it Nick?

zs180-warp

mostly me and keith, looking forward to the next one, I'll get paul to drive again!!

I thought it was excellent!!:D :D

GarethP
18-11-2002, 08:35
I suppose the best of both worlds for me was for MG to have put the 1.8T engine that's in the ZT into a ZS as well. Too many cars in the same line-up though, I assume. :(

zs180-warp
18-11-2002, 11:19
so have they put the 1.8T engine in the ZS?? what kinda power are they kicking out of these?:err:

GarethP
18-11-2002, 11:36
No they haven't. :(

But the 1.8T was put in the ZT.

Wasn't it to be the great MG company car saviour (due to the lower emissions). Like Dave says the ZS180 @ 227g/km = 27% tax. The ZS120 @ 174g/km = 17%.

The 1.8T model would've, I assume, created a ZS160 @ 194g/km = 20%. 0-60 ~ 8.5s with about 215Nm torque. :D

I would've too, but at 40k business mile/year, plus personal mileage on top, plus the fact that I'd only be getting £86/month  in my pocket (after tax) if i took the allowance swayed me slightly!
:err:

Dr Dave
18-11-2002, 12:14
That's a whole lot of miles pa there Gareth - you have to pick the right car to be doing that in! :err:

£86 a month!! ouch, I get about £300 a month after tax. I think i do around 30K per year including personal milage.

Dr Dave
18-11-2002, 12:59
£300 p/m car allowance?

That'll pay for 3 new tyres Nick :D

well i need 2 that's for definate!!

It pays the car all i have to pay is the insurance!!:omg:

Tell me about it. Nottingham to Milton Keynes 5 days a week (Plus various other jaunts). Takes about 1hr 15mins each way. Better than the 1hr 20mins each way when I used to commute the 25 miles from Petersfield to Farnborough! I feel like I live in my car (at least it's a nice one).

Lets just hope the ZS can cope. From what I have seen of the Rover engines in the past, if well maintained they can run forever.

You're right though - choosing the right car is soooo important - I have to keep it for 4 years as well.

At least the leasing company might be willing to part with the car after 4 years at a pittance (here's hoping anyway - I'm already really attached to it!).

£300 a month after tax - I would wish! If I did get that the 180 would've been mine! That's the problem of working for a large multi-national IT company that wants to maintain it's mobile image. Force the staff into cars that the employer controls.

zs180-warp
19-11-2002, 15:03
Gareth mate I work for SCC which is a global IT company, and it was a choice of diesal vectra company car or take the allowance?

So guess what I took the allowance and in about 4 years the car will be paid of and belong to me.:D

I'm surprised they don't offer you the allowance, it would save them money in the end!

zs180-warp
19-11-2002, 15:05
Gareth where abouts in Nottingham do you live??
I used to live in Arnold, all of my family are still there.;)

GarethP
19-11-2002, 16:17
Actually Nottinghamshire! Little village called Selston - just between J27 and 28 of the M1, west side.

I know Arnold a little - have a friend that works in Carlton and lives in Gedling Village.

As for a diesel Vectra or allowance - even on the pittance IBM offer me I'd have been tempted to go for the money!!!

I think they are just behind the times. Can you imagine how hard it is to influence them into changing the car policy of 80,000 UK employees? Especially in the current climate. :(

Dr Dave
19-11-2002, 16:49
Diesel Vectra? I couldn't think of anything worse!

sandy77uk
19-11-2002, 17:29

zs180-warp
19-11-2002, 23:33
Dave mate, maybe now you understand why I got you and steve to do the 0-60 runs at trax2002 in my car. I had spent 4 years driving diesel cars and wasn't used to driving a car like the 180!!:(

I think I am starting to get used to it now though, what do you think james?
