I have now taken my 220 turbo off the road to bring the engine upto scratch.:)
what i plan to do is change the head gasket, hone the bores and put new rings on.
Also want to get a turbo gearbox (was told before i need a 820ti sport gearbox for best performance)
What else should i no to the engine while i can but bearing in mind the cost????
Why are you contemplating such an extensive overhaul?
Honing and new rings doesn't always have the success you'd like

do u remember before i am getting oil out the top breather.
Sujestions were that rings were worn
compression test showed 110psi and with oil 125psi.
In the long run you may be better going for a recon motor or short end.
re-ring jobs aren't always that successful, take it from me

what about the gearbox.is that the right one to get and how much should i pay
820 box will be a hydraulic clutch whereas the Coupe is cable operated. Chnage over the clutch arms.
Costs wise? Don't pay ANYMORE than £250 for a used unit.....recon units with a decent warranty are about £400

am i right in thinkin that the 820 turbo sport is the best one to go for tho.i dont wana but it and sumone say i should of got another one
My vitesse suffered the same problem.
A simple honing and re-ringing will not suffice, as the bores will have worn oval. A waste of time. Get another engine or go for an expensive rebuild.
The best gearbox for acceleration is the 620ti gearbox, followed by the Vitesse Sport item. Both boxes come with ToRSen.

Thanks Gareth! I thought I'd be fighting a loosing battle here!
Has anyone got info on the various gear ratios used in these boxes ?
My Vitesse has a big gap between 4th and 5th.
