Hi chee hoe,
Paul here... <handshake>
Just bought a 75 classic... 1.8A. haha, just a tad over 3 years, and doing 44K mileage... haha, and I thought it was low... not anymore.
Would you mind if I ask how much is a normal servicing at the agent? Also, have you done any gearbox oil flushing yet... just wondering which arm it will cost me...
thanks
chan chee hoe 13-01-2005, 11:05 Price for servicing in our agent is reasonable, parts price is O.K. for Europe car[cannot match with the japanese car].!Automatic gearbox oil change before.!I stayed at Katong,if you don't mind, can actually meet you for a chat.

Hi,
It would be my pleasure to meet-up with you, except for 2 major problems... typical dad-syndrome - fetch kid and family and family time during the weekend... and the other, I am at other side - Toh Tuck [hmmm, such things always happen don't they...?]
Just had a big scare this afternoon... the temp gauge shot straight up to red, and the warning light came up... quickly stop by the side, and let the car cool down before checking the water... hmmm, water level was ok but top it up nevertheless. Started up and was ok, well for the next 10 mins or so, before it moved up fast to the red line; this time, noticed that the air con was cut to the fan mode; so switch off air-con. And before I could do anything else, the temp went down to the centre mark [normal].
Continued the journey, without air-con, on the AYE/ECP [lower delta to marine parade] and the temp was maintaining at centre... had a check with the wire-man... and once again, as usual, the sympton did not appeared as he was trying to diagnose the 'non-existing' fault... drove along PIE back to Bukit Timah side [this time, with the air-con on] and it was a wonderful ride back all the way...
And of course, Auto Eurocars are having their D&D today - hahaha - so it was a half day for them...
Is it just my car that is so temperamental...
Really to love to sit and sip with you... lets keep our fingers crossed that we will be able to... and if you see SDM6295 on the road, gimme a honk!

Oops, terribly sorry that I cannot answer your question direct... can I try this instead, and hoping you will enlighten me...
Its a 1.8 Auto, classic, 16V twin cam, manufactured 2001.
chan chee hoe 14-01-2005, 13:43 Weekend[sunday],i usually hang around Suntec/Marina/Citylink Mall area to read Car magazine, give me a call if you are in that area.{If raining, you would be able to see my Rover.!}Well, hope that your car is fine,by the way,the "Wireman' you mention,is it from the Agent.??
The wiremen is actually just a shop along the Geylang Road... went there to change a bulb... and from the sympton shown, thought it was more electrical rather than water/cooling system. Since I was there, thought might just get him to trouble-shoot. But after 15mins, it was normal - and had been so till this very minute [touch wood].
It is really a pain to send it down to the agent - apparently from my conversation with them, it have to be there at least for a day before they can do anything... and from my daily schedule, it is an uphill task to be without the wheels... <sigh>
Will keep your location over the weekend in mind... thanks
chan chee hoe 17-01-2005, 11:35 Dear PAUL,our agent is always 'KIASU' when you call them, they sure says 'It need 1 day.!'[every car's agent's service centre also the same] to prevent customer calling them now & then,BUT when you go down personally, some repair will just take less than 1 hour, for your info, you can reach our car's engineer at this E-mail address--rober***eurokars.com.sg----& my address is yeahbear@singnet.com.sg----..[just let you know,Rover agent compare with others is really much better,i recently buy a new Toyota Camry from Borneo,go for 1st servicing at Leng Kee,car check in at 8am[with advance booking] for a oil & filter change,4.30 pm,i call them up,they have not even started work on my car.!!!!!
Hi Chan
Been busy the last few days... and am thinking of going down to the agent to see if they can do a gear-box oil change... Saturday, 22 Jan
So is there a difference between the Rover and Toyota...

chan chee hoe 22-01-2005, 13:51 Dear Paul, have you change the gearbox oil[It should be called Automatic tranmission fluid].?How much they charge you.?Any other things they repaired.?

Hi Chan
did not go for the ATF change... but car is in the workshop now <sob>
went down last wednesday, intending to do a cooling system flush - but upon inspection by Chua, was told that it appears the gasket is damaged... and it appears to be so... oh well, upside is that at least I can have peace of mind now, and also timing belt changed... cost? 2K.
looking forward to this wed, thats when I'm supposed to get my mistress back... cheers
chan chee hoe 31-01-2005, 22:45 Dear PAUL,i received a WARNING E mail from the Agent's service manager, she ask me to "SHUT UP",it means not to tell you anymore things, regarding ROVER,i don't know what have you ask them about me,BUT they are not happy with me,i also do not know the reasons behind it,in future, don't write anymore on this FORUM,either E-mail to me or S.M.S. me,thanks.By the way, about your "Overheating",i think i am correct,an eariler post,i did tell you about H.G.F[Head gasket failure],but i think they have already deleted that message.!!!!!!I look forward to meet you one day,so that we can talk more about it.
Hi Chan
This is really a B-I-G surprise... when you highly recommended me to stay with the agent for their great service; which I was stuborn enough not too.
But after the last week, I realised that it was my mistake not to heed your advice... :ouch: and I would add that I am terribly impressed with Chua's level of service. :tacpb:
With the number of people in queue, I didn't really mention you... so am surprised...
Take care, and like I said... am still looking forward to having that cuppa with you... and with things going now, most probably it will have to be after CNY. kong xi fa cai...
