Surely MGR could begin production of a Rover 25 van immediately. Isn't it just a matter of blanking the rear windows and removing the rear seats ?

Maybe it will be like a VW Caddy or Ford Courier. Imagine this, Rover 25 Verso with 1.8 vvc 160bhp...the fastest van in the world, with the exception of the Ford Rally Transit:D

MGR needs a 25 van like it needs a hole in its head! - no doubt BMW or Mercedes could gain a few extra thousand sales if they were to introduce a 3 series or C-class van - but do they do it???

I wonder why not!

a van could afect the rover image but would it do that much?
also cuntrys like irland buy vans then remove the windo panels and add seats, trim and windows. they sell them as cars and have avoided tax as it came to them as a comersial van not a 3 door car

Some companies in the UK now buy vans instead of cars as the tax is less. So a lot of vans are as well spec'd as the car they're based on. Still dunno if its a good idea though...

look at ford, they make lots of cars and some might say are in the same market as MG-Rover. remember the escort van - they sold by the bucket full...

the transit van is probably the most well known commercial vehicle in the UK...

i think a 25 van could be ideal, certainly takes a chunk of the PUG206 van market

im sure most small businesses would certainly consider a rover van - and they could be made reasonably cheaply no doubt and sold at attractive prices.

It's quite simple. If MGR can make a per-unit profit on a 25 van, then they should make one. If they can't, then they shouldn't make one.

Why the debate?

Yup I've always liked the idea. Indeed, aren't there some BMiniW enthusiasts clamouring for a BMiniW van and a BMiniW pick up??

In fact, why not take the 75, blank the windows, raise the roof and you could have a 75 High Cube?
