May I just start by saying..GRRRRRR!!

I can see why they are there, to encourage good racing, instead of bouncing around off the barriers in rally mode, but when a car hits YOU and you get five second penalty, it really is a joke!


Does anybody find this annoying in the slightest, or am I just being a big cry baby?

Yes i agree, it's a good idea in a way otherwise every rally would be easy just shunt your way to the front and don't let them past you, but it's wrong that YOU get a penalty when THEY hit you from behind.

Atleast it's not just me then! Like I said, if you hit something, I think it's fair enough, you should learn the course, breaking points etc etc, but I think PD need to put more work into the effect the AI has with regards to the time penalties. Due to the AI I lost the one of the ice races 3 times because the AI car kept hitting me *screams*

i hate the 5 second penalties, if i crash fair enough, but if the moron of an AI driver slams into the back of me then it grates.

personally, I cheat :) Disable the A.I., and I can potter round the track at 35, taking the perfect line every time :) The stupid 5 second penalties made the rally courses totally un-enjoyable for me, so now I've got them out of the way, I can enjoy the spoils :)

How do you cheat Steve? Action Replay, Xploder etc etc?

You got it. Action Replay Max Evo is what I've used. Works a treat.

You can selectively de-activate the AI at the touch of a couple of buttons, and watch the opponent car(s) career off into the barrier. I know it takes the fun out of things, but I don't always use it, and there are some prize cars that I really wanted but would never be able to dedicate the time to winning the fair way :)

I think I may invest in one of those. I think i'll start a new game on a fresh memory card though, and go all out with the cheats :D Like you said, there are some prize cars I want, but I just don't have the time or inclination to get them!

apparantly you only get penalised for hitting something (wall, car) with the front/front-side of the car, if you smash into it with the rear half your ok. Works out well in the rallies as it means you can slide round corner, going on the inside of the opponent and slapping him with your back end.

no definetly not, i've had them smash into my rear and still manage to keep up with me when i accelerate off. They do get stunned when they hit a wall though and that often slows them down for a while.
