: 620 Screen Washer

I currently have a disfunctional screen washer. I have checked the lines for blockages and have come to the conclusion that the pump is not working.

Is there a separate fuse for this? Is the pump accessible/removeable? The whole system seems to be obscured by the nearside front wing - does this need to be removed.

Any help appreciated - Cheers!!

Can you hear the pump whirring when you pull on the column stalk? If you can, then its probably Ok. Have you managed to check the tubing along its entire run? Access to the washer bottle and the tubing behind the wing is a pain in the ****, but I found the easiest way was to take of the nearside front wheel, and undo the plastic wheel arch liner.

As for possible causes, could be a blockage in the tubing behind the wheel arch, or some 600's were fitted with non-return valves so this could have become blocked or broken. Have you tried filling the washer bottle to the top, and then operating the jets for a while (after pouring some water on the windscreen :) )to see if the level drops, this may point to a leak in the system.

Cheers fellas - the arch liner thing would never have crossed my mind.

There is indeed no noise emanating from the washer bottle area which led me to suspect the pump.

Is there anything I should be looking for when I remove the pump?

Check for power to the terminal on the pump before removing it.....could save a lot of work/mess!

Use a mulitmeter set to DC Volts - you should see 12V with the switch operated.

Hi all, I have a rover 100 ascot 1.1 ( R reg) and ive only had it about 2 months but i carnt even seem to find the leaver for my screen washer, but to be honest i have found sumit, and nuffin is happening, no water, no motor sound,nothing!. Ive resently emptyed and refilled the reservoir as it only had water in there whicH had gone all manky inside which could have possibly blocked up the tubes. I am just woundering if anyone can help me by telling me were the leaver is to activate the screenwasher(as im only 17 and neither me or my parents know how too)
