Hi
Could someone help me get my Rover started? I am selling the car and while leaving it stood for a while, the battery went flat while the immobiliser was on. I unlocked the car with the key and attached a 'battery booster' to the battery, setting off the alarm. I switched off the alarm with the key fob, tried to start the car and found nothing happened! The ignition lights are on, but the starter won't operate. When I lock the car, the flashing alarm light on the dash flashes rapidly for about 10 sec's before flashing normally. It appears as though the immobiliser needs resetting but I don't have a handbook. Anyone have the answer please?

Pete.

Do you get a two tone beep when the ignition is switched on?

It could be worth disconnecting the battery negative (car not fob) for a moment or two to reset it. Could have got upset by the dwindling voltage.

Best if you know the radio code before you do that though.

You need to press the fob button 5 times to resync once the battery has been off.

Question - does the alarm LED on the dash go out?

If so, it ain't am immobiliser fault.

I'd be looking towards the starter motor. A couple of minutes with a multimeter and all will be revealed.

Will,
Tried disconnecting battery again - no change.
Pressing which button on fob? Lock & unlock 5 times?
