Blimey a thread revival after 5 years !!.

I did mine a few years ago.

It's not too hard, just need a big pot of glue to stick the canvas to the metal frame. Basically just do the reverse of taking it off, to put it back on again.

Undo the screws holding the rubber strip above the boot and remove it, then take off the metal bar holding down the back window.

Down each side of the roof, there are 2 metal bars that hold the roof to the body (they are between the outer and inner lining just behind the rear side windows). Be careful not to drop the bolts down into the car body - might be best to have an extendable magnet to get them out again if you do drop them.

Then peel the roof off from the front and remove the metal wires that run through the roof and it should come off.

Unpeel the roof from the metal bars and clean them up a bit before attatching them to the new roof with the big pot of glue.

I'd probably replace the wires that run through the roof whilst it's off, and the rubbers above the doors and around the back by the rear window too. Might as well whilst your at it.

Took me, my Dad and a mechanic friend about 4 hours to do it.

I found the Rover technical CD Rom from ebay sellers very very useful to do this job. Its called RAVE and it costs about 6 pounds. Im not sure if it is legal to sell it having seen other posts but it does help

Put it this way, Rover aren't going to complain!

Sorry to revive a really old thread that was revived again last year.
Thinking of doing a hood change myself too, any idea where i can get the replacement wires you mention?
