I have a NASP 220 Gsi (3 door), its plenty fast but that thing must be manic with a turbo motor in it!

I also have a Vitesse Sport & shudder at the thought of that engine in a 200 :rotflmao:

looks great, like it with the standard grill, also like the bumpers as they look standardish but deep. Fit some lager wheels and it will look fab, nice milage aswell, most 220ti's have 120k+ by now!

I'm against people modding coupes in all honest. They are a modern classic and deserve to be preserved. Most have been modded out of recognition :(

In 10 years time people will be regretting modding their coupes, when theres buggar all left.

Couldn't agree more. The front and rear spoilers a re too big and spoil the looks of a great car.

What a load of balls.

They are NOT a classic just like the Calibra isn't. You could say any car could be a classic.

If there are going to be no Coupe's left, why are the modded ones going to survive?

Where are all these Coupes located that are modded out of recognition, I never see them. Have they all been rounded up and sent to Wales?

The Coupe is hardly rare, and no one cares if you are againt it or not. It is the persons decision if they want to modify their car. After all they paid for it!

This type of mentality is BACKWARDS!

Well IMO the Coupe doesn't need modding, but as I say, that's My Opinion.

More of My Opinion is that I never really liked the Predator front bumper and the wheels (as mentioned before) are too small, and the spoiler too big.

Mind you, not a bad looking car if that's your bag and it looks like it's been done quite well...

I dont like coupes with big wings, max power lights and other associated tat either, however people have a right to do what ever they want to their cars.

they'll be around for ages yet. They're not really anything special. The prices on them are going down, like all rovers. I mod my car because i bought it to drive, not to stick in a garage all bloody day and make sure its prestine. Cars are to be driven not become oversized bookmarks.

They are something very special.

And having a discussion the other night, because of Rover prices going down, astra boys are now buying coupes.

Coupes are a modern classic - and are actually coupes, unlike the calibra.

Another point to muster over...isn't it usually the case that max powered cars end up being stripped apart, either for parts, or for a total rebuild?

Anyhow, the Coupe doesn't need modding. In the same way that trees don't need modding.

And yes they are to be driven, so why the hell do you need to mod a car for it to be driven?

Lets put it this way, if a max power boy got hold of the first mini, or maybe one of the first few hundred minis, that was in perfect condition, having never been rebuilt or anything. And then max power boy puts LED's on it, spoilers on it - would that be OK?

is the car above one of the first few hundred coupe's? no. The mini is a legendary car because of its past ventures in racing, rallying, movies, world records, age of design and retro culture. I love modded mini's, they're a crazy little car that have character. I modded my first car which was a mini, and even the mini enthusiasts of shropshire said it was a lovely subtle example of how a classic can be customised. A phrase that i've had a fair few times about my GSi T.

I'm over in N. Ireland, I also own a modified coupe. Yes, they are already extremely rare over here, the standard coupe (in my case a 1.6 honda engine'd version) was ok but far from a brilliant. Fantastic looks, ok'ish power & half decent handling. I 'improved' on what was already there. That is not just my opinion as my wife who also drives my car had no real interest about cars & agreed that every 'mod' I did drastically improved a 'good' car into a great car........

Half decent handling from a coupe?

I think the handling is **** from the car as standard.

No, far from it, but it wasn't fantastic....... I'm absolutely over teh moon now with how she feels & handles. I just felt there was room for a little improvement.

Your not far off there, rolls too much in corners, has 3ft gap in the arches and braking is terrible on the turbo's.

The Coupe is a good Rover design, but its only 13yrs old, not a classic yet at all by any means, i rate E-types, AC Cobras, Mini's as classics. They made thousands of em, so I reckon they aint gona become extinct overnight ;)

one persons view on a modded car aint neccessarily gona be the next person's also. Its whats known in the trade as OPINION.

its how you drive it though. I can beat an unexperienced driver in a coupe turbo if he's driving a set up road car (proved it too  ) but yes, the coupe turbo's handling isn't the best as standard, but don't knock it for a std car, there are worse out there
