: Alarm vs Alarm- Rover Coupe

As it is my 1995 Rover 216 Coupe has the standard alarm and immobiliser. The immobilser works great, the alarm isn't really sensitive enough though. Being the coupe it has that gorgeous roof but taking it out means everytime I pop into the shops it takes a while to put it back on and then off when I set off. I was thinking of fitting a cheap sparkrite shock sensing alarm, because I can lock the doors as i get out without the alarm, it will still immobilise, set the sparkrite alarm so that if any one touches it, it will go off. However the sparkrite alarm senses current (i.e. interior light) as well as (adjustably sensitive) movement, but then again on our Metro things like the live feed to the radio and clock don't set it off, which I figure is the way the Rovers own system is powered, but most importantly, would the powerdrain of the sparkrite set off the Rovers own system?

If any body could help this will be ace. it is a pain with the roof, and itll help me catch the b*$***ds who insist on hitting my coop with there doors.

cheers

I did buy an after market shock sensor once from maplins, coupled to a relay so it was only energised with ignition off and when "shocked" it used to put the interior light on thus setting off the alarm.. Worked ok on a XW216 but when fitted to my 600 it tripped the interior light but wouldnt trigger the alarm :irked:
So I wouldnt buy a sparkrite alarm just for shock sensing buy a "bolt on goodie" to do the job for you.

Thanks- It's just that I would need some kind of a switch to turn off the motion/heat (not sure which) interior sensor when the roof is off.
