: Pull up to the bumper

Dr Dave,

Someone has driven into the back of my Coupe and driven off, not leaving any details. It looks like just the bumper is damaged (It's cracked at the top, and doesn't fit flush anymore against the sides of the car).

Can you let us know how much it would cost (just a rough idea) for a new bumper in Nordic blue. I don't really want to claim on the insurance, but don't just want to leave it how it is. I gues that the old bumper has been deformed too badly just to be re-aligned back onto the car)

Cheers,

Ed

Hmmmm not good news eh?

A ready painted bumper [as was available from MGR when the Coupe was current] is no longer available. You'll have to source a primed bumper under part number DQB10088PMD which retails at approx £220 >=( ouch.

Nordic blue coupe? Thats a strange colour; it was never offered on the Coupe as far as I remember..

Thanks Dave- I might see if I can take the bumper off and re-fit it myself, I'm a bit skint at the moment.

I've only ever seen one other Coupe in Nordic blue, when I get a chance I'll send in a photo, as it does make the car stand out a bit from the usual Tahiti Blue colour- it's the reason I chose that particular colour.

Gett ing the car fixed today, at a local dealer- very friendly service, and they agreed it wasn't worth a new bumper so have just re-aligned the existing one. Thanks for your help anyway Dave.

The only problem is the courtesy car- a Y reg (1982) Cavalier 1.6 with slushmatic gearbox, a starship mileage and no poke whatsoever. I want my car back!!!!

What a pig of a car! I didn't think there were any of those Y reg Cavaliers left!

Hope they didn't charge you for the privelige!

More of a discourtesy car, really!

My brother once got a "courtesy" Maestro from a Mini garage - he gave it a bit of a thrashing ;)

Most courtesy cars do get a good caning....thats why we are careful as to who we lend ours to!

Well the cars back and it looks pretty good. I'd recomend them (Ickenham Motors, near Uxbridge Middlesex)to anyone with an older Rover who doesn't want to pay main dealer prices.

I'll get some photos soon to put on the site.
