i am currently in possesion of a 1.6i engine that is in bits and was wondering if there are any performance enhancing mods i colud do or get done before i start to put the enginge back together and stick it in the car.

also if i was to swap my engine for a second hand motor would i also have to get hold of the ECU of the donor car or would it b ok. and wat other things would i need to take of the donor car if any?

p.s both cars are 416 k-series but the donor car is newer.

get the head polished, port matching, higher compression pistons, wild cams, the list goes on. Its how deep is your pocket is what you should be telling us!

Theres so many things that you could do, get in touch with dave andrews, he is based in the midlands i think, do a search on this forum.

thats the only real stumbling block, ive got big ideas but only small change. i was planning on finding big power boosts for cheap. ile just have to hope father chistmas has got a machine shop in his workshop.

ok then mate, big power gains for less huh!

Well, nitrous comes to mind. Any engine can run this and by the sounds of yours, you are reconditioning it, so the extra power should be handled by your engine. Plenty of places install these kits, i think a 12shot will be more than adequate for your engine/needs, my friends run these on the honda civics Vtecs. These are amazing kits when done properly and some very amusing races with m3's have come about!

How much do you want to DIY and how much are you prepared to shell out?

I'm a third way through doing a "performance rebuild" myself. At the moment I'm concentrating on a mild head grind and polish; my objective is to build an ultra reliable engine rather than go for balls out power. There's plenty of info out there on what to do, heres a few that I found useful: the BEST first! http://members.aol.com/DVAndrews/kengine.htm
